I realize this may belong in another area of HF. But if the mods would humor me for a few days before they move it, I would be thankful. RT gets a lot of visitors. Okay I am trying like heck to gain weight back. When I got Malaria I lots 35 pounds in one week. I have been on vacation in the USA for about 3 weeks and my appetite has finally gotten back to normal. I am slowly getting the weight back. The problem is that I go back to Belize soon and usually I loose weight there becase I cannot get all that good fattening food there. What I need is something simple that I can eat every day that will help me gain weight and keep me from loosing more weight. The food in Belize is very simple. There is not a lot of fattening good stuff there. So what is basic and simple that I can eat that will make me gain weight?
If you're just looking to gain weight--how about pizza.Although some people are just naturally very slim,as long as a person is healthy they sould not worry.
Rice in abundance. Potatoes. Oatmeal. Bananas are great. Tuna and chicken are great for protein, cheap and available anywhere. Eggs too. I assume you don't want to just get fat. Do you do resistance training? I am currently trying to gain, I eat oatmeal and a prot shake in the morning, 3 slices of bread with 175grams of tuna + 200g of potato salad for lunch, and I vary my dinners. Inbetween I have bananas and a protein shake 2-3 hours before dinner, one before bed. I would recommend protein or mass gainer. A gainer is basically a meal replacement, makes it quite easy for you to hit 6 "meals" per day. When you eat to gain weight, eating can get a bit tedious, so it's nice to be able to just knock back a bunch of calories quick & easy.
depends on how ya wanna gain the weight  but lots of meat - beef, chicken, turkey, fish, pork...add in some olive oil, avocados, almonds (and other nuts), keep lots of greens then, to top the night off, each night you should want to finish a package of oreos, ding dongs, ho hos, and many other cake like snack. pick one, finish the whole package. just shove it down your throat
Good! Thanks Pizza absolutely sucks in Belize. I am 5ft 11in and weigh about 130 pounds. Houston we have a problem. There is very little processed food in Belize. That is not an option
Good idea. Will check that out. I work out almost every day. I am in top condition. Valid but the Spaghetti sucks here. Will do the pasta though. Not a lot of junk food here. Good ideas. We grow avocados. No fast food in the Jungle.
Hmm.I'd say increased protein but don't include extra fat and carbs with that. So don't expect too much weight gain quickly- otherwise you'll have a fat round middle. I go for skinless lean chicken.A l white fish not the oily stuff in excess.Protein supplements.Little protein meals often. And some weight training. A little tuna. I think people naturally tend to be slimmer in hot climates. Its like comparing Africans to Eskimos. I think people only need 70g of fat per day.So take the rest of your energy requirement in whole grains and stuff?
you don't need the junk food...haha, i just like telling people to shove it down there throats. just don't overthink this...if you have access to plenty of meat, fish, veggies and fruit. go for about 2-2.5 grams of protein per BW (ex - 200lb guy -- at least 400g of protein a day), then fiddle around with your fat and carb numbers to where you are gaining weight. gaining weight too fast, cut down the carbs a bit, or cut down the fat...or cut down both. not gaining weight, up them. add in 3-4 tbsp of olive oil and bam, you got 3-400+ calories right there.
Well I have always had a hard time gaining weight. Even when I did not live in the tropics. Plus I am active as hell. (when I am not waisting time posting on HF) Some great ideas. I know it will not happen overnight. Thanks a lot.:cheers2:
I'm in the same boat 6'1", 140. I can gain a few pounds and then it'll totally slip off. I don't honestly know if I can gain weight without going all out and indulging in something like what Fitz suggested.
I could use to gain some weight. I gained 5 pounds in pure muscle mass in the last two weeks though, which feels pretty good. Haven't gained 5 pounds in years.
