It is now nearly a year now since Russian forces invaded the Ukraine.

Many thousands dead, an entire country in near-total ruins.

People with no electricity, heat, running water, decent medical care; infrastructure almost entirely destroyed, or, at least, heavily damaged.

Houses of worship, hospitals, schools......wantonly destroyed......the blood of many innocents on the hands of an evil, sick-minded dictator.

WHAT, exactly, is Putin trying to PROVE?

WHAT is it exactly that he WANTS?

IF (heaven forbid) Putin is victorious, just WHAT will be his spoils?

A devastated, destroyed, ruined nation, one that would take many decades to even TRY to rebuild?

Putin, quite simply, is, like Hitler; a seriously deranged, power-hungry lowlife, whose grossly overly-inflated ego, coupled with his own lust for Ukranian blood,

So many innocent people killed or maimed.....for WHAT?

How Putin can sleep at night is TOTALLY beyond me; he has turned the Ukraine into HELL.....HELL, in fact, is where indeed belongs for 1,000 eternities.

Putin sees himself as a powerful leader and military force; this, in tself indicates a highly-delusional madman.

What he IS, however, is nothing more than a steely-cold, malicious, evil-minded, demented, power-hungry lowlife who will stop at NOTHING to achieve his warped, highly-misguided goals........and so many thousands.....millions......are paying for it dearly.

God be with the Ukranians..........this "war" is nothing more than the result of a warped-minded, egotistical "leader" with a lust for blood....the blood of INNOCENT people......

    Out of the horse's mouth:
Putin compares himself to Peter the Great in quest to take back Russian lands

By Putin's own admission, he's a megalomaniac who sees himself as the greatest of old-school Tsars on a mission to restore Russian glory by conquering Eastern Europe. If he can successfully overrun Ukraine, then Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, The Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Romania, Kosovo, and Slovenia will all be on the menu.

Hate to say it, but I do not see where negotiations or diplomacy would be successful with someone like that.

Whenever Putin's time to "cash in his rubles" comes, I hope his brain will be donated to science, so a cure can be found for whatever serious mental disorder is currently afflicting him, causing him to wreak havoc, death, and destruction upon the Ukraine.

This "man" is LIGHT-YEARS beyond delusional......and God help the Ukraine.......

Well, all he's going to conquer is a lot of rubble and a lot of people that will devote their lives to bringing him down. Somebody will take him out soon, he's messing with far too much money.

I am somewhat surprised that his coterie of oligarchs haven't pitched him out of a high-rise window yet. From their point of view, war and economic sanctions can't be very good for business.

Oh, he will have to come out pretty soon. Maybe the cancer rumor has some truth to it.

    Totally agree.

It is only a matter of time before Putin is "taken down"; in fact, I have heard rumors that someone "within the realm" might be looking to take Putin down, meaning a Russian citizen who simply wants to end his reign of terror and greed.

If an "inside job" took out Putin, I would not at all be surprised; he has made more far enemies than he knows, and not just the Ukranians....

I have been pondering this very scenario for some time now.

Just think of how severely the sanctions have so drastically affected the lives of millions of ordinary Russian citizens, each and every day.

Indeed, they have NOT been pleased, to put it mildly.......

One thing Putin is correct to point out, is how the war has become a Military/Industrial dream scenario. It's not for just testing weapons old and new and proving them on the battlefield.

It's also for clearing out old inventory and taking huge new orders from militaries all over the world, leading to record profits.

It's also highlighting the weaknesses of the Russian military.

So what's Putin's end game? At this point merely to save face, so he can continue in power. Hence the more urgent diplomatic moves behind the scenes to end the war and allow Putin to retain what he has now.

Unfortunately his delusional state won't see how impossible that is at this point.

"Save face"..........you hit the nail right on the head, there, my friend!

I heard on the news earlier that today Russian forces have had their deadliest day since the beginning of war last year.

Does this register at all with Putin?

    Of course not.

His egomaniac, dictatorial lust for power....power...and even MORE power is truly consuming him

Where is "The Exorcist" when you need him most?

he seeks to recreate the soviet union and return it to its glory days. putler never hid the fact that to him the collapse of the ussr was a geopolitical disaster and he feels it's unfair that it happened. To this end, putler seeks to re-absorb countries like Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, Bulgaria, Romania and the Baltic states back into russia. belarus has already surrendered willingly. This is not going to work of course, because they can't even handle Ukraine as we have now seen (slava Ukraini!), and Poland, the country next in line, is not only a NATO-member, but they haven't even tapped into their military resources yet, and the Poles, aside from having a much better trained military, they also have a fierce hatred of the russians.

The problem is, putler is being surrounded and protected by a very large and well organized machine of violence. The National Guard of the Russian Federation, and its sub-group, the OMON, exist solely to control civil strife, and to quell any attempts by the people to revolt. And right now the ordinary russians aren't organized enough to mount resistance. Many probably don't even want to. According to the opposition in belarus, and the russian population in the Baltic states, some 2/3 of the russian population at least in public support this war. So don't expect them to rise up. And the FSB will continue to arrange "accidents" to any oligarchs who dare to even think of opposing putler. If any resistance is going to come, it'll most likely come from Yevgeny Prigozhin, known as "Putin's chef", who is right now the head honcho of the Wagner mercenaries. He fancies himself a big player now, and has as of late started acting more brashly and arrogantly after the Wagner group managed some success in the recent battles in Bahmut. So much so, that the russian ministry of defence has become wary of him. If there's going to be a coup, it'll be from him. All depends on how powerful the Wagners become, and how much of a threat putin thinks they are.

He completely and utterly underestimated the Ukrainians. No doubt also influenced by the fact that the cadre of Yes-men surrounding him only told him what he wants to hear. He became complacent after the 2014 invasion of Crimea went so smoothly. He thought it was gonna be the same thing now, completely ignoring the fact that the Ukrainians then spent the next 8 years that followed preparing just for this exact scenario.

putin can't quit now. He won't quit now. Historically, failed military leaders in russia get lynched. He will be overthrown if (when) he loses this. He played a high-stakes game of rich man poor man, lost, and is now literally fighting to survive. Because of russia's nuclear arsenal, I'm worried what he might still do, if he thinks he's become trapped.

Rumors and reports from Ukraine speak of up to even 1,000 dead soldiers on the russian side, in a span of just 24 hours. We're reaching WWII levels of madness here.

I agree with you 100% on all your thoughts, views, and comments.

You've made some very asute observations.

Though war has, and always WILL be "a feast for vultures" (one of my mother's teacher's made this comment when discussing WW1, back in the late 1920's) wars will, sadly, ALWAYS continue to be fought, until Mankind finally burns itself out.

This "war" is totally beyond senseless; Putin is nothing more than overgrown schoolyard bully, an obnoxious, hypocritical, wildly-egotistical, power-hungry maniac who will stop at NOTHING until he claims "victory".

    "Victory"?

His only prize being a nation that has almost been totally destroyed?

Putin, clearly, has serious (and dangerous) mental issues.......and this senseless, devastating, mindless, bloody war is indeed proof of this.....

    Thought for the day:

Putin is living proof that Satan does NOT have wear a red suit, NOR does he have to have horns sticking out of his head.

The Devil, indeed, walks amongst us........if Putin were to be doused with holy water, the water would instantly turn to steam, and the sizzling would be heard throughout the civilized world........

This war is human karma being played out in all it's horror and glory.

Like all wars, it's completely unnecessary, a giant lesson that humans have not learned yet.

All the hope for the future that our technology promised is lost as it is abused to steal, spy, manipulate and kill rather than unite and benefit all.

Human vanity and greed will be the end of their species, along with most others.
