I vaguely remember hearing that it was supposed to sound like the "dive" klaxon on a submarine, and was originally "aroogah" but got shortened. It seems to just mean anything the user wants it to.
It means "I am a mindless idiot who follows orders blindly." It also means "I am an expendable pawn."
It takes a lot of psyching up I imagine. I think they just do those things to temper people's motivation and warrior status. Every culture has their warriors and warrior rituals. Not all wars are bad and if your against war for oil or other resources then I guess you won't even ride a bike that requires some sort of lubricant. Or drive a car. Oil is the one precious resource that once it hits the market it's gone for good. Just watch China expand into the oil rich seas in the South China Sea down off south Vietnam. That is probably why the states is offering weapon deals to Vietnam now. Mmmm conflict pretroleum jelly!
nothing like standing morality on its head. much as christianity has been doing ever since it threw christ under the bus in favor of saul of tarsus. so its immature to oppose destroying other peoples environments and means of existence? for something that lines the pockets of a few, that we actually could survive without? lovely argument that. yes the filth of aggressiveness is immoral, and its dominance is always tyranny and tyranny is always its dominance, whatever excuse is made for it. and if we want to continue to have a planet our species can continue to survive on, well maybe that's just a big if, and i guess it must not be fissionable to care about it. but just on the off chance that it might, maybe, just maybe, it might be kind of a good idea, to stop putting ideology in the way of anything resembling logical and responsible sense. now as to the supposedly origeonal topic, i rather suspenct military use of the term in question, pre-dates any and all of the above speculation. now of course i'm taking the liberty of taking the phrase "the military", somewhat more literally then accepting the assumption only the military of one nation, and a currently existing one at that, is intended.
and when we run out of oil, if we don't run out of air furst? after needlessly destroying more in our path then an mongol or vissagoth ever dreamed of? cars, trains and busses, CAN run on stored energy, charged up from the sun, and from a power grid fed by every form of clean energy, and not monopolistically centralized either. lubricants, and even plastics, don't require the levels of blindly massive consumption that result from burning it as fuel.
Never seen a solar powered tank before. It takes a lot of space for solar power but yes it could support civilian needs but not all of them. The population is expanding far to fast. Faster than technology is fulfilling needs. A billion people in China and a lot of them burn gas in mopeds and motorcycles. I cannot even imagine how many solar panels it would take to supply all energy needs. Hydro power is good too but it takes a lot to make infrastructure. Man goes after the easy things first.
