stickies can get out of hand and a Pm convo I had brought up the idea, which I tend to like. What would good subs be? I'm thinking: latest creationsall media, one-two pix, sized so the text doesn't go wacky) yarn sewing reconstruction Jewelry Dyeing (batik, tie dye, overdyeing, fabric painting, etc) fashion (hair length, bell bottom threads, the how do I dress like a hippie, etc) member Web sites/ sites to see (some comments so thses aren't simply ads) FC for sale trade swap box comments? ideas?
you know i love this idea. maybe condense the actual crafts as much as possible so some of them aren't left *too* empty (just an idea). would it be too much in one place to take sewing/reconstruction/dying and put them into a fabric forum? but on the other hand, i do candles and soap and don't know that there would be enough interest for a seperate forum... maybe a general craft type area?
this is why my uncaffenated self is asking! i see dyeing as a separate entity that greating a garment. I'd add screenprinting to that sub, tho so: latest creations (all media, one-two pix, sized so the text doesn't go wacky) yarn- knitting weaving, crochet sewing & reconstruction Jewelry (incl. hemp) Dyeing (batik, tie dye, overdyeing, fabric painting, etc) General crafts: ceramics, soap/candles/ potpourri..??? What else here? fashion (hair length, bell bottom threads, the how do I dress like a hippie, etc) room and home decor (curtains, bean bags, rugs, cd clocks and the joys of lava lamps) member Web sites/ sites to see (some comments so thses aren't simply ads) FC for sale /trade/ swap box
that sounds like a great idea, that way you know exactly where to look! maybe we can have one for tutorials and people will start posting them, i want to post a few but gotta word em right LOL
I don't really like the sub forums. It seems like the threads in the forums with them get less attention, less quickly.
i don't find that true at all. I hit three subs in music and NEVER have to read about rap, punk, top 40 MTV bs unless I NEED info about them. I guarantee you the GD/Phish sub in music stays busy, and BG/ Old Time folks can find their topic quickly. Think how few weaver or screen printer threads we see. how many are back on page 54 and so another basics Q gets asked, and the other weavers/ screen printers come in a couple days and 37 patchwork posts later and never see the question? I intentionally scroll looking for dye questions/ threads, but I'm also personally wanting to keep the dye Qs together.
I was planning on "leaning" on the forum guidelines as soon as my fest. has this year's app. on-line. I'll post something about it in a week or two. For those who plan to apply to any juried festivals this year, NOW is the time to get your slides ready. Its unfortunate, but true, that even if you aren't a photographer, the photograhic quality of your slides is very important. Good photos that show the details of your work are the best.
