I think its a religion.... with people...... and mail boxes....... and stores....... and other things

 

islam is a monotheistic religion much like Judaism or christianity.

beliefs are similar, executions of the rituals are sort of different.
basic guidelines are the same, yet somehow, fundamentalists use the concept of Jihad to justify the killing of innocent people in the name of God to prove a point... not so smart.
Islam is a pretty fair but strict religion and in some ways is pretty orthodox.
Islam doesn't condone violence and I think all organized religion can turn rather sour in the hands of the wrong people........

Religion should make PEACE not war.... it's totally been abused man.

 

Islam is violent. the perfect muslim according to the islamic religion is a fundamentalist.
the religion DOES condone violence and It causes mostly hatred and war.

I have llived in an islamic country most of my life and I can honestly tell you that islam is nothing more then a virus for humanity, a deases which spreads too fast, too many ppl buy into this bullshit. and once you do you cant leave this religion coz you would get killed.
Islam should be eradicated.

Islam is just as imagined as the rest. Of course it is violent, especially presently, but it's not any more violent overall than Christianity or Judaism. There have been some positive things that Islam has been used as a tool for: the Pashtun "Red Shirts" in what is now Western Pakistan framed Jihad as civil disobedience against the British Raj in India's independence movement. Anyway, US foreign policy is responsible for Islamic fundamentalism. I don't think that Muslims just "hate our freedom."

I think the stories of the Old Testament are a pretty good example, but Judaism is definitely the least violent since most of its violence is rooted in mythology. Moreover, it is the original Abrahamic religion--the basis for Islam and Christianity, so I think that at least gives it an honorable mention.

 

islam is probably much more violent then both judaism and christianity. neitther of these two religions preach to kill infedels who live on their territory I think...

 

Even if the bible didnt preach violenece (which, actually, it does) Christians are responsible for countless acts of murder in the name of Jesus.

 

Im pretty sure that Christianity is significantly more violent than both Islam and Judaism. In fact I would be willing to bet that Christianity is responsible for significantly more deaths that both Islam and Judaism combined.

 

Not any worse than Christianity and Judaism

 

It is pointless to argue over which one is worse, because none of the three are the same in scale. They're all congruously murderous, but people tend to be biased against whichever is presently the most savage and in favor of the ones that are out of their prime. Nevertheless, I think if all of the terrible things that each has done/is doing were calculated and adjusted to the scale of the amount of followers each religion has had, how long it has been around for, and so on, that it would become clear that each religion is just as bad as the others.

After all, take Islam for example. It was founded a little bit less than 1400 years ago. Where was Christianity in terms of violence and respect for humanity 1400 years after the Romans nailed Jesus to some planks of wood? At that time, the church had recently finished sending hordes of its believers to rape up the holy land and would subsequently go on, in the next few centuries, to influence the European conquest of the world that surmounted in even more rape, murder, and genocide that was justified by Christianity.

Well, when we are saying Islam is violent because of things like "kill the infidels", think about it, What right does America have to be at war with Islam? Becuase, that is what is going on.
So a few of them flew some planes around, they do not represent the entire religion. I've read the Qu'ran many times, and the violence that is practiced by Islamic extremists is typically done by poor villagers who have lost all that they own and turn their anger into revenge.
I realize that there is also those who still practice stoning and other such things, but they are not the majority.
And guarentee, if they were to come here and start fucking shit up the way we have, ( I realize that this is a far stretch of the imagination ) there would be just as many Americans killing them and calling them infidels. It's all relative

 

imo Islam is way worse then both christianity and judaism for so many reasons, anyway I agree that arguing this point any further would just be pointless I let it pass...

Yes Islam is violent because such things as "killing infedels". Islam doesnt give the right to someone who does not believe in a monotheistic religion to live on islamic terrirtory. Dont you think this is just racist?

when The muslims were invading new lands they would give anyone who didnt believe in a monothesitic religion a choice.... either join islam or die. Islam was forced upon ppl plus once your in you cant leave.... If you do leave Islam secretly and someone finds out about it he would have the right to kill you.

Stonning to death is used as punishment for ppl who have sex outside of marriage. For thieves it's hand amputation and decapitation for murderers. And they dare call it religion of peace (islam comes from the word " salam" which in arabic means peace)

The fact that not many countries still use the above practices does not mean anything. Islam still says that they should be used. Only saudi arabia still uses all of the above practices. and Look at it... the country sux....Women cant leave their houses without a hijab (veil) it's sic. No wonder they have the highest rate of homosexuality in the world, most of these guys dont even know how girl\woman looks like... There is a special type of police that goes around the streets telling ppl to go pray when it's time to pray... it's ridiculous. There are no cinemas lol.... women cant drive.

I must admit I am somehow afraid (more like paranoid coz it's not likely to happen) that one day egypt may become just like that and this makes me hate islam even more....

What do I think of Islam?? Well, to be honest I try NOT TO think about Islam!!!

 

I agree with you Kar33m, Im not saying that it is a good religion.
NO religion that divides or controls people is good.
I am not entirley defending Islam, I am just saying that
the violence carried out in the name of it is no different
than Christianity.
And not all Muslims are violent people, just like not all Christians
are violent people.
