I usually have a homemade contraption I use, Its a Mayo Jar. With a kief screen about half ways in. I usually just get some weed from someone and throw it up in my jar, id say bout a good 9 different kinds of weed just up in there. Its easy 2 make. Pretty effective

 

In a baggie with my chillum in my harmonica case.

yeah dude thats stupid ass shit to keep that cashiness and that pipe sucks major ass. i have different size jars but if im on the road ill use a baggie or small jar.

 

Light degrades weed.
So does leaving it out in the open.
So does crushing it up like in a baggie.
Weed should be stored in an rigid air-tight container and kept in a cool dark place.

To the o.p.: are you freaking serious? Should be a crime to treat weed like that.
And seriously dude spend $15 and get yourself a glass piece. Corn cob pipes are ok for an emergency but at least leave the stem on.
If you keep the weed in a good container and get a better pipe you'll get more high more times.

air tight is always good, i wouldn't keep my ashes and weed int he same container that is just going to make it taste nasty

 

Mine's in a baggie in a tin with an "incense-rock" (don't know what else to call it, it's a chalky, scented stone thing in the shape of a fleur-de-lis) that makes the weed smell faintly of vanilla. It's stored with a big pile of incense to make sure the smell doesn't get by.

 

I stick my shit in a plastic bag. Same with my pipes, rolling papers, blunts, everything. I then put everything in a big plastic grocery bag. Then I put the bag in a basketball bank/coin thingy.
