im not sure where i am supposed to post this, but i just heard that one of my friend's brothers may have killed himself, i really wanna do something for him, and although i do believe that there might be a god, i dont really agree with the christian beliefs.. what can i do that would be an alternative to praying? i will also pray of course, but i really just wanna, you know, do something
Hello Its always sad when somebody suffers that much that they see no other way out then killing themself. Dont underestimate the power of prayers though...(pray that he will have a good rebirth...post his name here and I will do that to) In the Tibetan traditaion of buddhism there is pujas (cermonies) that one can do for the recently dead. One ceratin puja is The Medecine Buddha Puja. But in general I think one of the best things you can do thats more "concrete" is that you can support your friend and his family, they need alot of love and compassion right now...
reading from the tibetan book of the dead is supposed to give the wandering soul reminders about how to get through the bardos &, if not acheiving liberation, at least ensuring an auspicious rebirth...
Simply, you should do some positive activities and then dedicate the merit to your friend Ben. For instance, practice a charity, either organized or homemade, and then after each kind act or day then say, I dedicate all the merit that I just did to Ben so that he may be free from suffering. This is a simple way to send his spirit some positive amplitude.
