Same here I would not view it because Tom would ruin even a potentially good movie.--And due to the lack of respnse to this older thread I guess not many people thought much of that film.
Only reason i saw it in theaters is cause my dad wanted to and I hadn't seen him in over a year so I wasn't about to complain... was better than I expected, but still not something I would have paid to see with my friends or anything. Hitler looked like fucking Hitler.
I usually don't like Tom Cruise movies, but this one I actually liked. What made it more bearable was that most of the supporting cast were first rate British actors and that the story was interesting. Tom Cruise was playing himself as usual.
it was 100% pure hollywood commercialized bullshit! only in the most vaguesest of ways is it historical accurate. some years back, the brits made a historical accurate piece called "operation valkyrie." i saw it on pbs (public broadcasting system.) i was so impressed by it, that a bought a copy. back then no blu-ray, or dvds, just vhs tape. i heard it was re-aired not too long ago on bbc america. the bbc america store is having a hard time keeping it in stock. same for amazon.com, and everyone else too! after seeing valkyrie, i wanted to puke my guts out... IT SUCKS! i dug up my copy of operation valkyire and stuck it in my old vcr... ONE HELL OF A GREAT MOVIE! get to netflix, redbox, blockbuster, or wherever, and see 'operation valkyrie... you won't be disappointed!
I find it similair with the few movies I've seen with Tom Cruise in them.--In the few "viewable" films he was in the rest of the cast ,or some of the cast carried him.--I've said this before but back when Hollywood 'used' to make great movies(The Golden Age of Cinema 1930s-70s) ,Tom Cruise would not have even been able to get a job as an extra in the background. And that also applies to about 90+ percent of the 'no talents' (some call actors) in contemporary American movies.
I love Tom Cruise, but I couldn't stand this movie. I was kind of pissed that I gave 2 hours of my life to watching it.
