What created the hippy lifestyle?

I think that pot and other psychedelics where the cause of the hippy lifestyle. Not only the way a hippy dresses or talks but even how they think.

The reason i say this is because i was trippin on acid the other day, and i just couldn't stop acting/talking, even thinking like a hippy. I kept saying, wah man! all throughout my trip!I even put on my greatful dead shirt that i never ware, about half way through the trip. It was fun. I wont to have more days like that : )

The damn hippies were around before psychedelics were introduced to them.

Pot has always been around, it's not like it magically appeared in the 60s.

there never really was any such thing as a 'hippie lifestyle' among the REAL hippies. only among the partyists who joined the bandwagon in hopes of getting laid.

although there was, i suppose the long hair and making the peace sign as gestures of solidarity with alternatives to the established status quo.

The pot and psychedelics are just a by product of the scene.. I've never smoked dope or took acid, but consider myself to live the life. It's not what you wear, smoke, shoot, snort or eat. It's where your head and your heart are at.

 

I thought it was something to do with it being the next generation after the second world war. All the kids wanting to get away from everything that their parents had to go through and support.

 

I created it but didn't have the forethought to patent my creation.
