Polls say Ben Carson is almost tied with Trump. Does Carson really have any chance of becoming the GOP nominee?

With the majority of the GOP voters being remnant of the confederacy, how is Ben Carson going to win the south?

If Carson does get the nomination, will he win the black vote in the general election?

Carson has the same issues as Trump, only he says he's more religious and want's to destroy planned parenthood and abortion.

Can you imagine a black Pope for president? One black president ten years ago was thought impossible. But two in a row?

The times, they are a changing.

Yesterday MSNBC polled this question, and 74% said no chance. From the lack of response, it looks like nobody here thinks he has much chance either.......

I hear crickets in here. I've never paid much attention to him but I did read an opinion piece the other day about how Ben Carson's ideas are just as crazy as Trump's but he speaks very reasonably so no one notices. I guess ill have to start paying attention to him to see if this is true.

The issue is less Ben Carson's electability.

He is not a scripted politician.

As a Doctor he brings important insight to health care issues.

His polling numbers show republicans will vote for Black politicians.

For such a brilliant surgeon, he seems so sleepy and boring. So far, I haven't heard him say one smart thing. Maybe in the next debate ...

Healthcare issues? Like defunding planned parenthood? Banning abortion?

The GOP doesn't take care of the children already born. Banning abortion only makes that problem ten times worse. It will also make the prison problem ten times worse.

Those that are the PROBLEM will NEVER be the SOLUTION!

With more than half of the GOP electorate being bigot southerners, Carson getting 20% of the republican vote will not get him the nomination.

Yesterday when Trump implied that vaccines cause autism, Ben Carson said nothing. What does that say about him?

If we could just cherry-pick the good traits and clone a composite candidate. Carson showed weakness when he complained about not being addressed. If CNN was stonewalling him, it would have just made the press think they're scared of him. He should've played it cool. But I can see why he'd sit back and let Trump chime in with his autism claims. He can let the press chew on chickenshit like that. But how will Carson deal with Russia or China? We already know what Trump would do, make a reality show. But now we see that Carly is a war monger. An interesting debate. But not worthy of Cheap Shots (the drinking game)!

It wasn't really nothing, but Carson should have said more, and said it more authoritatively. He came across as weak.

No candidate but Trump has a chance to be the official Republican guy. He's popular and he has the money to run independently. If he does that all he does is steal Republican voters. At first I saw Fox news laughing him off now they embrace him.

I don't think Trump has a chance of being the GOP nominee. It's still six months before the first primary, and Trump's diarrhea of the mouth is going to blow him out of the running before then.

But I'd really love to see him get the nomination....It would guarantee a republican loss in the general.

  16. Carson reminds me of Stewie from Family Guy. You can just tell he's a megalomaniac lunatic. Now he can say he ran for president which is great for his ego. Thank God he'll never win the nomination. He's a pinhead.

I could easily see the republican nominee picking him or Fiorina as a VP, just to play the game of identity politics.

So funny to see Carson putting his bigotry on display, demonizing the Muslims. Saying this country should never have a Muslim president.

Black violence is much more prevalent in this country than Muslim violence. Does that disqualify Carson as POTUS?

if he were that smart, would he be the token black republican? republicans are a circus, that is scarry, because some people might actually vote for them. if they'd ever stop trying to justify beligerance and take an interest in anything useful, they might earn more from me then the combination of fear and disgust.

I was wrong about this. I didn't actually watch the debate and I did what I sometimes criticize others for, which is just repeating what somebody else said without checking. I finally saw the clip, and Carson did object to Trump's idiocy.
