basically with mine, i let each of my friends decorate them how they like.I have one plain wooden bead on my oldest dread (had that 8 months longer than the others) then i have a big wooden bead with stary patterns carved into it, put in by Jaycee. I have a small cream plastic one which looks a bit like bone , a small metaly one which looks like your typiucal silver tube beads (got both of them from brighton) i have a glow in the dark plastic star, given to me by my raving aunty. And a purple star which i swapped a plain purple bead for with a dreaded girl at a rave. umm (thinks) i have a purple clip bead, oh a new small bead with a litle flower on i i got from barcelona when i was b-packing, and i have one dread which my friend dandelionblood did which has purple and blue wool (and did have some beads) wrapped round it, but she needs to fix that one up a bit as its unraveled itself.

Ive only had my dreads about 6 months but they are looking like they are begining to take some form at last :D

i started my dreadies 2 years ago. my first bead was this beautiful blown glass one that my (now) boyfriend gave to me the day we met (over a year and a half ago). it's been in there ever since. He told me that i was a beautiful girl with beautiful hair and needed to wear beautiful beads. :) most of my beads are glass: one my parents gave me that looks kinda like a sunset over the ocean, one my best friend gave me for my birthday, a big blue one that my boy bought for me while we were at the phish show in limestone last year, an orange and yellow long skinny one that i bought while on Cape Cod. i think that's it for the glass. then i've got a Peyote stitch (i think it's called that) It's gold and purple and one of my best friends gave it to me. then there's a soap stone bead that i carved myself. and finally there's a clay one with blue/green swirly glaze on it that my mom gave me. whew!!! quite a few beads. i try to limit them, though. i won't just throw any bead in my hair. it has to have meaning. each of my beads has a story behind (much more in depth than what i just told you!) that's what so neat about dreadlocks. everything about them is very symbolic. they mean what you make of them.
