Hotels/Motels piss me off! I've had shit stolen by house keepers 4 times. It sucks. It was always small shit, like bath and body works lotion, clothes, etc. But still man, that's just wrong. Anyhow, I ask for new sheets and towels when I check in, and I change them myself, because I've often came into the situation of them not being changed after the last renter. Otherwise, I clean the room before I leave, trying to leave it as I found it. My Mom is a freak about hotel rooms, she cleans them excessivly, so much so I'm sure the housekeeper has nothing to do when she comes in. The funniest part is, she leaves them a 5 dollar tip for each night that shes stayed. That might come from having done the job before, who knows.
I used to be a housekeeper too, what fun! Actually it wasn't too bad since the people I worked with were a blast. Trust me, some of the rooms I had to clean were a nightmare, after Packer games-yuck. My own hotel habits pretty much reflect the fact that I was a housekeeper, but also that I'm not an inconsiderate slob. When we leave I always take the used towels and sheets and place them in a pile and never leave garbage all over. During a stay over I never have the sheets changed, that's wasteful.
I tend to clean the room myself before housekeeping gets there. I don't often make the bed though. All I really ask of housekeeping is fresh coffee supplies and fresh towels if necessary. Antithesis, if you were the person coming to clean the room, I would hide naked in the shower to suprise you.
The first thing I do is check the Yellow Pages for Asian massage parlors and escort services. Most escort services: Las Vegas (of course) Cheapest fine escorts: Sarasota, Florida Skankiest/Nastiest escorts: Valdosta, Georgia Hottest & most expensive escorts: New York I’ve asked for extra towels when I was going to the beach or pool, but other than that, I don’t make any special requests. I don’t like to be in the room when they’re working, so I go to the lobby or pool while they straighten up & I always tip the housekeeping staff; I usually leave ten bucks with a note that says: “for housekeeping.”
I check in to my room. I turn on the airconditioning to make the room comfy. I only pull the stuff out that I'm going to use at that time. I comb my hair and head out to do what I want to do. If I eat in I order my food, either after I shower or I eat in my street clothes. I sit to the desk and eat the food. I drink my soda, water, etc in bed. I pick the bed furthest from the windoe. (The light keeps me awake.) I watch tv but put the sleeper timer on so that it shuts its self off at night.) I keep the curtains drawn and the chain on the door that leads outside. (I keep the other door locked and sometimes I use the chain, well most of the time.) I sleep on the end of the bed but sometimes I move to the center. I onlu sleep on one pillow but I use two to watch tv and sometimes to nap. I order food from menus or sometimes the phonebook. I take advantage of continental breakfast but I get it in my nightwear. (I'm almost always undressed when I'm eating in the room.) I sometimes bring poolwear and I love game rooms so I play until my little heart's content. I talk to all the people that look interesting and I go everywhere and pretend not to be a tourist. I shower at night. I have to rotate the pillow because I drool. I set the controls on the tv so that closed caption works. If this is too much information or I sound very boring then I have an idea. You can tell me what I'm suppose to do when I'm in a hotel room alone and I'll do it.
last time i was in a hotel was in mexico and i drank all the little bottles of liqour in the fridge and skipped out since my company had to flip the bill...they had just fired me for refusing to cooperate which included refusing to throw used oil filters overboard and disappearing for two days upon arrival in port...hehe. i left a tip that time but i usually don't. but i also never make a mess...sometimes i take a towel or washcloth if i'm traveling and need it.
Wow Stella, that sucks. I know that if any of us housekeepers at the Comfort Inn here tried to pull any of that shit, we would get our asses fired in a second. We get yelled at if our boss even sees a tiny spot on a mirror. And I hate to think of what she would do if we left dirty sheets on from the last occupant for the new occupant. I've noticed that the extra clean people, the ones that don't even look like they've even been in the room, are the ones that leave huge tips. The dumbass pigs are the ones that never do. Probably because they are stupid assholes, so what can you expect? Remind me to get someone else to do a room that you are staying in Eric
I had a watch stolen from the Lexington in NYC. The Hotel Policy was " so? shouldn't have left it in your room".
That is definitely not the policy at my hotel. Just for the record, I really hate people that wash their dog in their in-room jacuzzi...
Actually, you really really don't want to stay in the Motel 6 in Arcata. I've heard rumors about cleaning practices that go on there... And why wouldn't you want to stay in a room that has been cleaned by my loving hands?
I got a real dirty dog, wouldnt wanna piss ya off....whatta 'bout the Motel 6 in Eureka? I stayed there once.......
I don't know about that one. But I hear that the housekeepers at the one in Arcata are incredibly overworked and so they don't have the time to clean the rooms very well. And they don't get paid if they take longer than they are supposed to to clean the rooms. So they do a rush job. Or so I've heard.
SO the toilet aint sanitized for my protection?!?!?!?!?! I better just stick to sleeping on the beach.
Not me, I'm not that picky. I feel bad for the hotel staff... If I'm staying somewhere for a few days, I don't mind having the same sheets.... I don't change my sheets every night at home, there's no reason why it should be that way when I go on vacation...
I'm in israel at the moment with a big group of people from my youth movement. We get put up in hotels, motels or hostels all the time for weekend seminars. The laundry at the place we live at most of the time is amazingly crap and because we move around a lot, we often lose our towels and stuff. We also go on long bus rides which are fucking uncomfortable. As a result of this and other factor, just about everything gets taken from a hotel room when we stay in them. Towels - ours get lost/stolen pillows - long bus rides, also if you find one which you love, its fucking rare coat hangers - our rooms never have enough blankets - bus rides again tourist yellow pages - self explanatory shampoo and conditioner - meh. its meant to be taken. etc etc etc *shrug* we're fucking annoying.
