At the end of the day, surely it is the Calibre of Character and Conviction of Conscience that is the most important element in the way we live our lives.
We are all different - with individual status, standings, backgrounds, beliefs and values,
Far from looking to categorise into division, we all here together, Embracing and Engaging with our "Mother, Father, Sister, Brother" and all aspects of our World family - for Unity without division has to be the way forward - methinks
.... Or is this state of "competition" why we evolve?

I agree that what we do with all those traits, and how we perceive ourselves and others (and react to those perceptions) matters more.
The power of we as a whole lies clearly in our diversity. Different minds and ideas come up with solutions one person probably would not (soon). Taking notice of different mindsets also increases a person's understanding.

Competition is a lie we've been taught to tell ourselves. So is hierarchy. So is gender.
(what we do have a responsibility to, is ourselves to not screw up, whatever kind of world we might actually want to live in)

The world of human society is the statistical sum of how all of each of us lives.

There is also a real universe beyond us, who's nature is a diversity we cannot kill or intimidate.
And because we cannot, it is always there to give us hope, however painful or simply frustratingly annoyingly and inconvenient, is at times, the price of its being so.
