Soaking in some hot springs in the winter and laying in the snow to cool down.

Snow shoeing is hiking in snow with special large-area footwear. Kinda like putting tennis rackets on your feet. Don't let the snow stop ya. :)

Then there is snow-footing, walking through snow without any footwear. When the snow is fresh-fallen, it feels like walking on flour or powdered sugar. It's a unique and soothing feeling, softer than the finest sand. :)

Mushroom hunting (and not for magic mushrooms, I mean the culinary kind like hedgehogs and chantrelles) I just got back from finding about 20 pounds of hedgehog mushrooms and I am on a total high.

I've been wanting to get into the edible mushroom thing. So like, how do you know which ones are ok and which ones would make you sick or kill you? I'm looking for a mushroom primer.

I use "Mushrooms Demystified" by David Aurora and I love it. But mostly I know which are edible because my parents taught me and I have taken a couple college courses about mushrooms.

I'm not sure where you live, but I bet that there is a book that deals with your specific area. If you get a book, make sure that it lists look-alike species. That way you can keep an eye out for what you might get mixed up about.

    P.S. Snowshoeing is awesome!

Gem hunting, fossil hunting, going around with a metal detector, or just going out to a deserted spot in the woods and spending the day thinking. I also like to stay up all night and stare at the stars.

looking at mountains and collecting things off the beach... feeling soft cool grass underfoot as i walk across meadows etc.... listening to birds while looking up at the sky and trying to identify what birds i am listening to.... catching fish by hand (tickling them)... sleeping in the woods... loads of things but that is what immediately comes to mind... :)

When during sunset in the middle of winter, the entire sky is a deep red with streaks of purple and pink and orange, and the snow on the trees and the ground is glittering and sparkling :D
