received English, but not overly received. I'm from West London, so I sound like a news reader, except I say "joost" instead of "just" - picked that up from studying in York.
My mom and family are Capers. Spent a good amount of time there as a kid. I guess it struck me as odd 'cause as a person who call tell a Newfie from a Caper from a Mainland Coaster, I don't think they sound *that* close to be mistaken as Scottish or Irish.
Yep. Interestingly I have a cousin from Tunbridge wells who says "just" and "but" the same way because her father (my uncle) is from North Yorkshire.
Lower-middle class London accent. I almost sound posh, but then I leave the 't's and 'l's out of the middle and end of words.
British Army accent with a hint of Scottish/Irish. Basically; I'm Irish when drunk or romancing. I'm Scottish when fighting or romancing. I'm English when complaining or debating.
If you sound like that, I sound like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkNEdEqtu8M&feature=related (Gary Lineker not the other geezer, Diego.)
That sounds posh to you? My accent is perhaps a little lazier than his...but, yeah...I can identify with his accent. Gary went to my school, and grew up around here, so we share a similar accent. But he's been out of town for quite a few years...so perhaps his accent has slightly "improved". It still sounds remarkably like me though.
It does sound posh, but not bad in any way. Depending on who I am speaking to, I can sound horribly posh, not as bad as this guy though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PB3Hlv7rg1M
Thanks. I'm going to have you speak like that video when I am reading your post, sorry. Btw, was that Oz satirical humour? I say stick to soap operas.
It wasn't supposed to be an example of our comedic standards. However, depending on which show you watch, we are very hit and miss and I do agree that we could work on our wit a little.
I can do any accent in the UK I want, and I vary it according to my mood and what I just ate for luncheon. When I am immortal I'll probably end up talking like Connor McLeod.
dublin accent i love the australian accent i like english accents too, not all of them though.. some of them i just love accents
Don't just laugh, get the mop! I have a chav accent at points like with the word water. I have to remind myself there's a t else I end up saying 'wa-uh'. I've posted my voice before. Several times...
