Anyone else do cross-stitch or needle point? I found this adorable pattern online, but I'm not going to pay $8 for it (so I'm putting it in one of my computer's art programmes and am going to blow it up before I print it out). I'm going to be getting some really delicate fabric with lace around the edges to put on my antique burea, and I want to put this pattern in the corners. Isn't it cute?! :)

I love to x-stitch. I learned from a right janded person (I'm a lefty) and so I learned to do it "backwards" -- meaning all my stitches go //////// instead of \\\\\\\\, which is how it's "supposed" to go. I have a bunch of patterns too, kicking around my comp too. I'll post 'em when I find 'em if you folks want. :)

Ok i might be the biggest loser ever, but i buy those things at the store and i have absolutly no idea how to do it. i dont know which hole to start in and i dunno how to change the thread and i dunno how to end it and i dunno!

I buy all the cute ones though. My grandma loves to cross stitch.. she "said" she'd teach me but has that happened yet?

    hell no!

    i sure wish someone would!

Natural Mystic: You count how tall it is. Say it's 30 stitches from top to bottom, so you cut out a piece of cloth double that. Fold it in half, count 15 up from the bottom and start in the middle. So if it's also 20 stitches across, start on the 8th one.
Make a double-knot to start, and when you finish on that colour, go through the last stitch you did, loop the needle through, and pull so it makes another knot.
When you're finished and you want to frame it or sew it onto something, fold over the edges and sew them down. Don't cut it 'cause it'll just unravel. So stitch it over then stitch again onto your backpack, jacket, hanky, whatever you're putting it on.

They also make some cloth so you can put the picture directly onto something, like a shirt or purse or something. You pin it to the item of choice, do the whole pattern, and when you've finished, spray it with water and then pick away the canvas with tweezers. That way it's on the actual clothes/accesory instead of like a patch. I can't wait to try that kind!
