Weird Smell(fumes maybe?) from glass

I trying to make a bowl. I got a tiny glass jar that I want to use. My dealer uses them to distribute his nicks($5 worth). I put a flame to it and it gave off a weird smell. I wasn't smoking out of it; just a flame directly on the glass. I tested other types of glass--- a glass jar for candle, a glass ashtray, a glass food chopper. Does anyone have a glass pipe that was actually made for smoking out of? If you do, could you put a flame directly onto it and smell it(be sure you don't do it on a section covered in resin) And then test other types of glass and compare the smells. I'm very careful about what I smoke out of, so please help!
(The smell might be from the direct contact of the flame to glass, but I'm not sure)

it was used for nothing eles but to transport small sacks of bud? if so i dont see a harm in it.

 

glass shouldnt really give off a smell if its burned

 

You probably smelled butance from the lighter...

 

clean it out really well, just to make sure there's nothing left in there, incase i was used for other purposes. And, I know it may sound silly, but are you sure it isn't plastic? I've seen people mix the two up, surprisingly.

my current dealer uses the worlds cheapest plastic bags the ones that don't seal at the top (plastic sandwich bags)so shit dries out.

jars would be bulky but would keep weed fresher

 

It's not too popular to sell in little glass jars(yes, I am positive it's glass) But I've come across them every once in a while. They aren't my favorite either.
