my locks are 4 years old. and when i was my hairr the is still a weird residue...any ideas on how to get this out?
from your description i deduce that its either depleted uranium, now thats got a half life of 4.5 billion years so not much you can do about that...could be something else though Whats it look it?
looks like white stuff....i cant see it my girlfriend noticed as she was ripping my dreads. i ttry to rinse a bunch of times usually. think it could be the baking soda...like a bad batch or somethin? idkit doesnt smell or anything. its at the root mostly....sorry for the other posts not having a good decrip of what im talking about lol
maybe switch from baking soda? I didn't like the way it left my dreads, they felt kind of tacky after I washed no matter how much I rinsed.
to nautral- its flacky not gooey..... and luxie, what would be a good concoction? any advice would be appreciated
Is this the first time it has happened in four years? That would make me think that something has changed in the last little while... more time at the beach? Did you move apts and using different water? (hard vs soft) Are you scratching your head a lot more due to stress?
well I used LUSH shampoo bars but now I'm sticking to just water and massaging my scalp with my fingers as the shampoo bars are good if my hair is actually dirty but it left them felling a bit too squeaky clean. atm I'm happy with just water. some people use rosemary tea though and I hear it works well or apple cider vineger? but I haven't yet
Second on the rosemary tea, it keeps a nice scent better than baking soda. I use old-fashioned brown soap (Octagon 59cents) when it's real dirty - works great and leaves them real soft.
Baking soda is very easy to overuse to the point where it becomes difficult to rinse. No more than a tablespoon should be dissolved in a pint of hot water. Don't know if what your describing is from the bicarbonate but you may be overusing it.
i also found when using baking soda that ACV was a great way to get rid of the buildup and residue the cropped up when i used the "no poo" method. I'm assuming since your dreads are 4 years old they shouldn't have a problem with an ACV rinse- meaning they shouldn't 'fall out' but i'm honestly not knowledgeable enough on that to really say. i'd try at least one AVC rinse (like i used 1 part ACV to 3-4 parts warm water, but i'd imagine that could be difficult to just "rinse" through your hair, so maybe fill a large bowl- one big enough fo ryou to actually dip your head and hair in- with the ACV solution so you can saturate the root really well and then use a hot water rinse in the shower to make sure you get it alllll out). I'd wait for someone here to OK that idea though... lol... just to be on the safe side.
