weed and family relationships

how has the fact that u smoke weed affected ure relationship with ure family after them finding out? is it more distant now? more open? more understanding? for me its just fucked up coz my family think im heading down the wrong road. id accept that statement if i was doing heroin but with weed?. they dont seem to understand how amazing this plant actually is.

 

my mom is totally cool with me smoking weed. When lived at home, it wasn't because I couldn't smoke there and she didn't want anything illegal in her house- even though she thinks it should be legal. I have a little brother and she doesn't want him taken away.

My dad is too scared of me to say anything.

But I talk about it all the time with my mom. Dad made her quit when they got married, but they just got divorced and she's interested again. Next time I see her I might burn one with her.

 

when my brother turned 18 my dad asked him if he wanted do go burn with him, he knew that my bro smoked earlier but it was when he was 18 that he was cool with it, i think my dad knows i smoke cuz my bros told him that he'd smoked with my a few times, he said my dad didnt seem to mind. so im just waiting till he asks me to burn.

my mom knows i smoke because my friend's (that first introduced me to pot) mom is best friends with my mom, and ive smoked with her and my friends house before. she asked me if i wanted to smoke a bowl, so i glanced at my mom, and she didnt say anything so i said sure and smoked it in front of her, it was weird but also pretty cool

 

Fcuk my man, I went down the same road as you did, I'd like to call it an over reaction on the parents side. The fact is if your parents have never tried smoking, its going to be a hell of a time convincing them that its a righteous thing, not like me lady headymoechick, because her moms already been there done that. But, the way I dealt with it is to keep on toking, and share with them the information you gain from marijuana. Because if your a deep thinker when baked, trust that the marijuana will make you realize things that you never thought of. And let them know that marijuana wont put you in a decline, that it is not something that is manufactured and chemically altered, (well maybe now you might get a batch with a high THC content) but other than that marijuana is mother nature, been around for thousands of years and enjoyed by millions of people. Give them the facts, just be real, theres no need for lies and denial.

My parents know what I've done.They never have even smoked but they let me have pieces around the house.

 

my parents both smoke.. it has done nothing to my relationship with them. however over the years it has my parents with eachother....my mom sits on her ass and smokes all day and my dad works hard..i think hes fed up with it

 

shaba my dad used to smoke but he passed away like 1 1/2 yrs ago. but anyway he was cool with me smoking weed. i just dont understand why the rest of my family see weed as a bad stigma. my dad smoked his whole life and in the end he had a very successful life. if only every1 smoked weed the world will be a much better and friendlier place.

Oh how right you are. I dont know how many times I've thought about that. I think the lyrics of John Lennon's Imagine would some it up best:

Now thats what I call Eutopia. And I believe he was speaking from a serious trip off some good ol' mother green, if you know what I mean. And I'm sorry for not knowing about your pop's, but it seems like he was a wise man. The family is going to have opinions about every thing you do. Its a fact. You can only do what you believe is true.

Both my parents smoke weed... before when we hadnt smoked together we hardly spoke to eachother the relationship was very distant with problems... than when I started smoking weed and found that they did too, we started bonding along together greatly. My parents are awesome people.

 

Now that my friends is what I call a success story.

 

the best way to bond with your kids is to do the things they do.

 

y'all are lucky, my family relation is crap cause of it, yet along the way I'm very glad to have learned several things about the nature of my parent's unjustified attitudes, and much the nature of overparenting to that extent. Through there selfrighteousness in this war against my life choice they have forfeited there right to reason and an even moderate point of view. I don't want to demonize my parents to much though there attitudes are somewhat understandable by the fact they have been the parents of two different weed dealers, yet they never did give enough of a moderate unpropigated bonding ground to cultivate any honesty in the first place.

i don't think it has added or detracted anythign from the relationship. i've always had an open relationship with my parents. though they found out i smoked when they saw a picture of me smoking a blunt. but they know i drink like a fish and they know i'm responsible. both my parents smoke, my sister does. its helped me and my sister bond though.
