All right, I'll be quick because I have a lot to do... We're getting married in a few short weeks, and we're planning the affair on rather short notice. My Mom's performing the ceremony, and our families are making a way bigger deal out of this than we had meant. :& My mom asked us to find and select one or two readings to use in the little "service". I've looked around online and I'm at a total loss. I don't want something that's been done a million times (ie: nothing from The Prophet!) and I don't want something totally cheesy. Just simple and joyful, because that's the kind of couple we are. Thought about using a lyric from the Dead or Ani, but spoken lyrics always sound so cheesy.... so now I'm leaning toward somehing from literature. Or a good piece of poetry, but I can't find anything that really speaks to me (or him). The closest I could come seems to short... a Jubal Harshaw quote from Stranger in a Strange Land... "Love is that condition in which The happiness of another person Is essential to your own." Thought about/thumbed through... Heinlein, Ram Dass, Richard Bach, Tolkein... And I'm at a loss. Can anyone help me here? Sorry if this is in a bad place, too. If anyone can thik of a better forum to post it in any suggestions at all are welcome! (Can you tell I'm a little bit flustered by how our small family affair turned into a 30 + people event?)
