So how are you aging? Do you still have dreams and aspirations? Are you content with your life?

Yeah are people more screwy today or is it that they no longer seem to be able to act normal in public like our parents did

We allowed ourselves more freedoms than our parents did; and the generations younger than us have allowed themselves even more.

    Maybe it's the new normal.

It’s not an age thing, it’s a state of mind.

But the more we have, the more we want. Greed is the curse of the human race and has caused every conflict and war in history. At a local level it is great, as long as people don't resort to underhand means and violence to fulfill their growing ambitions.

I wasn't speaking of greed and don't want to go off topic.

I was speaking of the freedom of social expression.

Point taken. Wanting more freedom of expression was what I saw as the metaphorical greed and often leads to people becoming more materialistic. Then one thing tends leads to another. Sorry if my reply was putting it all a bit backwards. Regards, Wills.

I am happy with the person I am. I struggle with certain elements of my thinking but that's good; it means I'm growing, still.

My body, I'm not so happy with. I'm overweight and have fibromyalgia and arthritis. I regret not trying to be more physically fit when I had the ability.

I'm nowhere close to where my parents were, financially. That's just the way the cookie crumbled. We were in okay shape until hubby got canned after 27 years and was too disabled to start over. I was unprepared to enter the work force after being a stay at home mom and too disabled to work jobs I was qualified for.

That situation has been a source of stress.

I'm happy with my family, my home, my friends, etc.

I aspire to be a better person but I really have stopped dreaming of a different kind of life. I'm content with that.

I've got many things to keep me going.

I've been fortunate, I've actually accomplished most things I ever wanted to do when I was 20. I've been places, seen hero's win in person, stood in place I never thought I'd make it to.

There's still much more to do though, more places to see, more culture to experience, more people to meet more food to eat. More bands to see. More races to attend.

The one good thing about me is my determination to accomplish my dreams which has yet to let me down.

For me such things make life worth living as well. But i don't see them as goals or dreams. To me it's just fun stuff that happens when you live good :p

There have been trade offs in my life, but they have been made consciously.

I wanted, more than anything, to be a stay-at-home mother so that's what I put my determination into. I passed on having new car notes, daycare bills, manicures, a big wardrobe of clothes, buying a boat, having a huge mortgage... all the things that having a two salary household might get.

During their teen years my kids were mortified. We couldn't buy them a different pair of sneakers for every day of the week, etc. They've grew to see the real value and I stayed home with their children.

I have exactly what I wanted.

    The Road Not Taken

    By Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

  20. I'm pretty content with my life but still have dreams and aspirations. I know that I am in a bit of a rut right now because of this fucked knee but yeah still have places to go and things to do. Hopefully the next surgery will sort me out and then, well, the world is my oyster as they say! I also think that even though my official retirement date is the 6th November I would like to keep working on a temporary contract basis so I can do the more important stuff. My mind is full of ideas that I fully intend to make reality
