If you work out longer that 30 minutes in a row then it's a good idea to drink some extra water (and when you're doing something really strenuous). I'm not sure what you mean by loads but you probably aren't taking it too far. Drinking too much water is possible and it can cause electrolyte imbalance (nasty situation, usually doesn't but can lead to death). Some people like to drink sports drinks, some like plain water. You can probably tell how much you need, just don't force yourself to drink more because someone somewhere claimed it's a good idea.

I normally make sure I am well hydrated before I go to the gym and will sometimes take sips of a sports drink before, during and after to help me keep my energy up. As already said, you should know when you have had enough and not just drink loads because you think its good.

    It could be a problem.

Have you ever heard the saying, "too much of a good thing can harm you too?" Well too much water at 1 time can cause you to be nauseated and lots of stomach cramps.

I say, drink 1 glass before your workout. After the first 30 minutes, drink another glass. And then at the end drink about 1-2 glasses to replenish.

you should get a water bottle that you know how much it would hold, drink what youd normally drink, and if it's more than 700-800 ml / H then i might lower it. but drinking and eating are all individual and you know if your thirsty or not. so if 700-800 isn't enough then go for it

It's bad to over drink anything, but water can be dangerous too. There's something called "water intoxication" you can get from drinking too much. By the time you're thirsty, you're already slightly dehydrated. If you're working out at the gym, take some Gatorade with you. That'll replenish what you need with electrolytes not found in water. But don't drink too much. A sip here and there is fine when you need it. Don't guzzle it and don't drink til you're sick.
