In terms of art, everything is matter of taste. Personally, I love the 80s. Some of my favourite songs: Klaus Nomi - After the Fall Baltimora - Tarzan Boy Falco - Ganz Wien France Gall - Ella, Elle L'a OMD - Maid of Orleans
I wasn't alive in the 80's, but when it comes to music, it's my favourite period. I'm a huge 80's hair metal fan. but it is a matter of taste.:cheers2:
Yes, yes it was. Except I was born in the 80's, and I am the best person in recorded time. I pretty much hogged up all the awesome energy for that decade. Sorry.
Well, I was born in 1964, and the 70's with all the guitar virtuosos was the best for me. Then came the 80's and it was like WHAT HAPPENED? Sure, you had the hair bands such as Dokken, Ratt, Twisted Sister, etc. but it was sheer disappointment. And it seems to just have gotten worse as time has gone on. Good bands of today are the ones that are still going from the 70's, such as Wishbone Ash, Deep Purple, Robin Trower, Ted Nugent, etc. There is of course, a few exceptions, but as a whole, the 80's was the start of a decline in music for me, me being a former lead guitarist in a band back in the 80's.
In the early part of the 80s there was still the fallout from 1977 and all that...still interesting things happening. That seemed to have petered out by maybe 85, 86, as neutered rock and shallow formula pop reinstated itself, as it always does - these things go in cycles. Here in the UK, the best thing from the late 80s that I can remember was a short-lived interest in homegrown Cajun.
Damn, that abo' chick was hot! ...Bowie pretending he's playing SRV's guitar solo while wearing gloves... One of MTV's rare high points! ZW
While most of the songs from the 80 were crap there were a few songs from my youth growing up on MTV that were pretty good Hungry like the Wolf – Duran Duran Cyndi Lauper - girls just want to have fun The Safety Dance – Men without Hats Hotwater

Nope, there is no such thing as a "worst decade" as far as music goes...is my personal opinion. Seriously, artists and bands such as Michael Jackson(R.I.P.!!!), Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Megadeth, Yngwie J.Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, The Police, Prince, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Twisted Sister, Skid Row, Whitney Houston, and so many others, ALL became widely known during this era. These artists and bands have ALL accomplished so much in the last twenty or so years, made some MAJOR contribution to the music industry, and moved so many people with their music. The 80's was a great era for music. And so is/was every other era, and I DO mean EVERY other one including the year 2000 and onward as well.
