So I had a dream 5 nights ago and its being playing on my mind......

In real life I sold my great grans engagement ring last year because because I was totally broke and Ive felt guilty ever since. I went to bed and for some reason it popped into my mind and I felt sick that I could of done something so horrible.....I was desperate, Im not a a drug addict or anything I just had a really bad month.

So I fell asleep and I dreamt of my grans house, I was in her front room and it was exactly how I remembered when I was 6 years old.....she held my hand and was walking me through the room and then I woke up quickly....

I swear to god the hand I was holding in my dream was still in my hand when I woke up, I was fully awake it was solid and I squeezed it it didn't disappear, not straight away, it was bizarre.... was it my mind playing tricks on me do you think?

    what could it have been??

I think you were still dreaming while waking up. It happens to me sometimes. So no, I don't think it was a ghost.

Yeah I thought it was a trick of the mind/still asleep, but then I'll always have that funny doubt telling me it could of been otherwise? I dunno it was strange.

Ive actually had a dream where Ive met my dead uncle, we hugged and I could smell him, I touched him and it was real, like we were meeting in another dimension. I know people rubbish this sort of stuff, but this dream I know was real, I woke up crying I was so happy to see him. It sounds crazy I know.....

It doesn't sound crazy. Dreams can be very powerful, and can play with your entire range of emotions.

I would say it could be either way dream/grand maw . Your mental energy could of attracted her , you felt guilty about selling her ring . She came to tell you its ok . State in your mind that you want to see her again , ask her to take you to the astral garden in your dreams , and remember . desert rat

You could try to ask yourself: What is a ghost? It could be the collected memories you have about your great grandmother that you had this encounter with. You had a similar experience regarding your uncle, and perhaps you are just more in touch with your senses of touch and smell compared to other people who are usually more visually minded.

apparently it is a matter of how one chooses to define the term. the way i prefer to use the term, is synonymous with the soul or awareness of a previously physically living person.

however, what "ghost hunters" seem to look for, are impressions of events that record themselves somehow in the fabric of time and space, and can thus sometimes be witnessed replaying themselves.

the latter of course are what make for scarey stories, which seem to be what more people are interested in.

(i misread "was it" as "what is". sorry.)

as for you relative, i'm sure if they loved you, they would have wanted you to do what you had to do, however much it may have saddened you both.

A similar thing happened to my Uncle...

My uncle's father died when he was still in his late teens and 30 or so years later my uncle woke one morning in floods of tears. When my aunt asked him what's the matter, he said he was having a dream about holding his dads hand when he was a child and it was really vivid. So much so that he felt the roughness of his fathers workman like hands against his own soft skin childlike hands and the reason he was crying was because he still felt the sensation when he woke up, for a second or two he was still holding onto his fathers hand. My aunt tried to console him saying it was just a dream but my uncle wouldn't have it and swore on his 3 kids lives that he had just been holding his fathers hand.

This happened 20+ years ago but the reason why I remember it is because my Uncle is the only one in our extended family who doesn't believe in any kind of religion or afterlife at all. I can remember him saying "when you die that's it, end of" and "that the only way you live on is through your children" so hopefully maybe this little episode will have perhaps gave him some comfort and a chance to see things a little differently and not be so close minded.
