    can you say Scheveningen? ;)

do you see the dutch side of the family often enough to go trough the trouble of learning the language or are they all living there??

It may be old dutch, but schobbejak is still in the dutch dictionary. It means villain. Doerak means something like a rascal.

Like Spanish and Italian, if that is of any help.

Then why do i suck at German grammar, and not at English grammar?

A language is what people speak, and if we dont use those words anymore, theyre not a real part of our language anymore. Although i do know what they mean, because ive heard them before.

Same here. German grammar makes no sense to me. However, i believe the dutch language is needless complicated as well and very hard to learn.

yeah, most dutch deny their similarities to the germanic "aryan" race just bcuz of historical reasons.

dutch is 50% english 50% german

if you wanna know about a language's similarities with another language, then the primary words you look in would be geographical words and the calendar words.

by the way, the true french is lost, it's latin (bcuz of the Roman Empire) and english is half german (the other half is latin)
