Has anyone read it? It is an amazing book about
a guy in the 70's, Peter Jenkins, who decides
to walk across America and does, from NY to AL.
    True story

I read it, Walk west and one of his more recent ones about sailing along the florida coast.
Perk Vickers of the Vickers Ranch is still alive.
I catch myself wondering about some of the folks he and later, Barbara, met.
I was very interested in his take on the Farm. I wonder how much of it was colored by Coop's death.
Now, Stephen is a power junkie, but look what he and his people pulled off!

I think his take on the farm
gave a realistic description of what the Hippie lifestlye
demands. Those people worked 16 hour days during the

summer in the fields, and they eventually became dependant

on tractors; it was not easy, but they did pull it off
    sans any interaction with coporations.

The book is so inspiring because he did the unthinkable:
walking across the country, with only a talk dog at his side.

I have not read any of his other books even though I

have a couple of them. It lost its spirit after Coop
    died and he got married.

I have read about his life, and I guess his compulsive
traveling severed his marriage to Barbarra, who he meets
in the first book. So what does he do? He sails along
the Florida coast and writes a book about it.

Thanks for the recommendation, it sounds exactly like the kind of book I would enjoy. I can't wait to travel in the USA :)
