wahey! photos!

hello guys, i'm bored so i thought i'd post a couple of pictures i took for the dready meet and greet thread on here... my friend dyed my hair and i love the colours so much i'm loathed to wash it now hehe, i bet she'll regret doing it in a couple of weeks.. nah not really, but i do need to get some better pictures than these blurry ones before i do.

it's not all dye, there's some wool in there too. the less bright colours are dyed (actually kool-aided, hehe, gods bless the americans for making kids' instant drinks that actually stain wool and hair permanently...their poor internal organs)

ha ha ... i used to dye my hair with koolaid when i was about 17 (drank it most of my life too ... and i think i'm still ok)

great dreads! obligatory question is how long have you been growing them?

i've had mine now for 7 years .. here's a photo from last August


after that was taken, I ended up having to cut some of them, as they were getting so heavy my neck and shoulders were constantly hurting ... i don't have a current, current picture as i've since dyed mine using henna so they are bright red, but here's a slightly more up to date picture, which also shows how they look after being freshly cut (have had to cut twice since august last year) this photo is from this past May, just before I dyed them

I often paint my dreads with UV paints instead of actually dying it because I'd have to bleach my hair first and well...fuck that!

don't mind at all! the more dreads the better in my opinion! i love your dreads, they look so funky and natural.

i've had them for about a year and a month now i think..still fluffy, but ah well.

henna in dreads looks so so pretty! get some pictures up pleeease

and i'm glad to hear your insides are okay. some of the koolaid flavours (sorry, flavors) i got were strange sounding. like 'jamaica', which i think is hibiscus flower flavour... when i mixed it with cornflour and aloe vera gel it looked EXACTLY like blood, it was amazing. may have to get some more!

actually, to be honest, wouldn't it be so awesome to have a camera for a face? i'd be pretty happy. so boo to your facetiousness!

I love all your dreads!!! I'm having to wait til I get my new job to do mine which is a shame cos I could do them on Saturday.

Thanks phoenix =) getting longer and heavier by the day! it feels so normal to have them now that i forget they are viewed as slightly strange by the majority of people. Havnt washed them for 14 months hehe.

i really wish i could do that..

when i get 16, ima gunna ask my mum if i can get dreads again XD if that fails, i'll ask at 18, then if that fails i'll just get 'em when i move out..

 

i think that's pretty much what i did! :biggrin: but they caved at 18, so good luck with yours!

 

I was going to do it this summer, but I might wait until I go to uni now, give my hair a chance to grow.
