So I have had my eye on this baby blue VW Microbus, and today I finally called the number on the for sale sign.
Its selling for 1200$, not sure of the year, and it looks like it needs a little maintenance but nothing major (that I am aware of)

Do you think its a good idea to keep pushing towards buying once I find out alittle more about it, and if it isn't in dire need of repair?

Pay a mechanic to look it over thoroughly. Does it have any rust? That could be a problem.

I wouldn't mess with it if it's got rust. Not worth it.

if you can sand out the rust and clear coat it...if its all rusted through dont bother..especially if its rusting through the floor. but u can put rust remover on it to stop it..and if u have the cash u can pay a mechanic to do his thing and weld some metal onto it :)

If you don't know much about vehicle mechanics/maintenance or you don't have a good amount of 'spare' cash then then don't buy a 30-40 year old vehicle.

    Especially as your only vehicle.

I owned a good condition(sold for 3500) 72' vw westie bus, and it was more trouble than it was worth. Looked great though! but with cars you have to look more than superficially, you put your life in the cars hands every time you get in.

It's all about the engine really. Minor surface rust is okay. Just make sure there's no rust running down the rocker boards also.

Old VWs are terrible polluters.....you might want to get something a little more earth friendly!
