There are only two ways I know of to pump images into your eyes, and you can either beam multiple lasers directly into your eyeballs to form images, or you have a display that is at least as far away as a pair of sunglasses. Of course, everyone I know would prefer to try the sunglasses first, and these metalens will likely make it possible within three years. Theoretically, a pair of sunglasses that cost $50.oo can provide all the VR you want, or the equivalent of a 50" screen, and not make everyone stare at you, however, what remains to be seen is how much they will charge, since these will make every existing headset garbage.
