Protest in the most effective manner you can- with your money. Don't shop at disgusting places like Walmart, etc. Buy at thrift shops, second-hand stores. This is how our voice will be heard. I'm still hoping Kerry is laying low until solid evidence of a rigged election surfaces, but if he doesn't come out fighting for us, this is a way we can be heard and actually change things. Thanks and feel free to add links to good sites with info or sites that sell products that don't contribute to everything that's wrong with America. turnyourbackonBush.org followyourmoney.com solari.com
It will protest corporate America, commercialism, consumerism and greed. No! They can starve for this one day. Don't disrupt the message! Steal some milk for them instead, they will get fed and our message will still get out!
Bah! , go buy the milk the day before and don't even walk into the stores on that day. The idea is to send a strong message for at least one day and it's got diddly to do with Kerry. Although green_thumb has great intentions I don't think it's an issue that deserves to be muddied up with a political slant. Stealing solves squat. Alot of people advocate stealing as a means to protesting but all it really does is verify that we still want that crap, we're just not willing to pay for it. Instead of promoting stealing maybe go out and be an advocate for self-reliance, barter networks, working for trade, etc.. a complete withdrawal from a strictly consumer society. In the long run stealing from them only helps to keep it going. It sends the message that we still need them when we don't.
Also, manufacturers have already received payment for merchandise that you steal. You are only stealing from the retail establishment. Retail, while far from perfect, is not one of the major problems in this country.
Can anyone take a joke around here? I was kidding about the stealing. Anyways, I support living simply and consuming as little as possible regardless of who's president, I supported that long before the election. The buy-nothing day has nothing to do with the election. But many democrats are protesting with their money, they are only buying what they need and avoiding republican supporting retailers. I see no problem with encouraging upset democrats to help with the cause. When I say "vote with your dollar" I mean not republican or democrat, but for a change in our lifestyles, a real change. One that will really make a difference.
