hi i tried to email you thoughr your site but my outlook express isnt working... is it ok if we communicate through hipforums? i would love to come work for you (6hours/ day since i wont have much money for meals..) what sort of work would be needed in july/august? i havent worked on a farm before but i am very interested in learning first hand about organic farming and very willing to work hard -physical labour doesnt scare me is it just you and your family living on the farm? peace
hi mooka july and august are very hot and dry months in portugal so we try to get up early and work before the hottest part of the day, then relax and work again in the evening. work during that time will probably include weeding the gardens, maybe some planting, harvesting fruit & veg and making preserves, maybe some building work, mucking out the horses' field, cleaning out the chicken shed, general maintenance, cleaning, household chores, etc. best wishes, sophie
hi again sorry, missed your last question ... yes it is just our family living here, though we often have visitors and volunteers. you can see a bit more about our farm on our blog at http://www.quintadasabelhas.blogspot.com
hi sophie, thanks for the reply, that kind of work sounds fine, the only i cant do is ride horses (never have learned how...) but everything else interests me, especially the building! how long in advance would you like me to notify you if i do end up coming? only because at the moment i still have several possibilities for this summer so i dont want to agree to anything until i'm sure i can go through with it. -robin
