So who is going to write a bit about who Guy Fawkes was and what this is all about... I know, but not many Americans know. Fill us in on the history so we can celebrate with you!
I'll give you all a clue. Guy Fawkes was not the King of England or the Prime Minister but he sure knew how to make parliament hot!
kind of like trump supporters, who just want to see how much they can get away with destroying. who don't look beyond blame, which they assign arbitrarily and delusionally, without giving the least thought to what would replace it or what even their own life would be like, instead that's just more to blame on someone else too. yah guy fox had this idea to blow up parliment, preferably when it was in session, he just hadden't really thought very far ahead, and just kind of assumed he would be undisturbed setting it up. well he did have a cause. he wanted a return to absolute monarchy. what he imagined would be a simpler life that way. and a lot of people today, apearantly make the same sort of mistaken assumption. and while i agree power should be closer to home, whatever sort of socioeconomic structure, still needs to justify its existence, generally be keeping people and environment healthy and reducing rather then increasing ambient anxiety.
After reading the Wiki page I ask do you celebrate the saving of parliament or the revolutionary idea of returning to Catholicism?
this is a better time of year for it, then in the u.s. in the middle of summer, that's for sure. of course oz has the same problem with time of year for this one. pretty lights in the sky.
Well I like a good bonfire, and roasting politicians is always great fun! Bravo! Hope you get back to reality from virtual distancing by next year
I've been many times to the Lewes fireworks and parade. Here's a video I shot at one of them, when they still used to throw bangers all over the place:
