Maybe someone remembers an old chat site. Around 1997 I used to visit a chat room that was like a video game. As a newbie, you showed up as a yellow smiley face on the screen. Other members would be on the screen and you could pick a custom icon for yourself, such as a pic of your face. You could move your icon around the screen using the keyboard and people could group together on the screen. There were different rooms you could walk into, similar to the old Atari Adventure game. For example, there was a dressing room where you could put on different clothes. When you typed in words, they would appear in a caption that would come out of your mouth, like a cartoon. There were also actions, such as kissing your partner, and the kiss sound would come out the speaker and I think a heart would appear briefly over partners. It was a pretty neat chat site, similar to a video game. The web was relatively new back then. I don't even remember the name of that place. Anyone remember it and its name? .
It wasn't Habbo. It was before that. The rooms were one-dimensional in the chat forum I was referring to. When I say like the old Atari Adventure game, I mean like the original Atari video game system. .
Habbo, good grief.. that was weird. Odd stalker chicks would try and get me to go on it, then sexually harass me =/ Yeah, it sucked.
Yeah in 1997 I had all kinds of weird stalkers from chatrooms too. *shudders* Anyone here play Maple Story? Some of the original post reminded me of the chat in that game a bit.
well my chatroom stalker was more like 2001... in 1997 my computer still ran DOS, and had 2 disk drives but no cd-rom
Haha... in 1997 I was online too much... my second boyfriend actually found my online and was like "hi, I'm Brandon... my locker is beside yours and I have a crush on you and want to meet" LMAO. And we met and were together like a year but yeah.... just funny he found me online somehow in like 97.
Mmm, I remember the DOS chat rooms in 1997, that I never went on because they did creep me out. But I did have e-mail and browse music sites back then.
Well I just didnt think so many people had the net in their homes in the 80s/early 90s. So strange how it just blossomed like that.
