So the news is on and they were talking about the microchips- like the ones used for pets in case they get lost ..... are now being used to help track people with Altzheimers that may wander off and such.... Okay that sounds all fine and good... BUT.... apparently they have been shown to cause cancer in rats and the whole big brother scenerio..... Does anyone else find this concept, if taken into the whole hands, extremly horrifying? And I know this isn't new news. Most of us knew for ages that they were working on something such as this.... but this is the first I've heard that they were actually being implanted in people. It won't be long now..... :hang:
I used to work in a nursing home and we kept the alzheimers patients in the unit. It was a section of the nursing home that was locked with a key code. That is much better than giving them cancer with implants. Besides the thought of a little tracking device implanted under my skin scares the hell out of me.
That is crazy. It's pretty much mandatory to have one in your dog here. To think it could do that to your pet is bad enough let alone your grandparent or parent. To be honest, people with Alzheimer eventually "forget" how to keep their heart and breathing going. Unless they have the money for medical equipment they basically die from the disease... so it could be an okay thing if they honestly weren't going to live a whole lot longer anyway. Some people who don't live in nursing homes could get into serious danger if they are able to wonder out of the house. It's one of those hard decisions to make I guess. I sure in the hell would freak out of someone wanted to implant something in me... but if you had it you'd probably forget you had one anyone... haha. Okay, bad joke there. Did they say why it causes cancer? I would think your body would naturally attack it since it's an unfamiliar object to the body and abnormal cells could be formed from that... but I'm nothing close to a doctor. haha
Yes, the Verichips have shown to cause cancer in animals. They actually have two kinds of chips ready for humans: The subdermal Verichips, which will be used for tracking and banking, as well as the brain chip, which has openly been admitted at one of the big world science conferences at Loyola University. Most people are only familiar with the former.
ppleae, i ain't get no chip in ma brain man...fuck dat shit how dey gonna do dat yo? chips in brains...crazy people think that is real
I wouldn't dare have that done to my pets. Delaunay is getting old anyways so I don't want anything that could shorten the time I have left with her.
They are using it in pets and the elderly as a way to acclimate the rest of the population. They will use it to say, "Oh, look how great it is. Now if your kitty runs away, or your senile grandmother, they can find her." It's made to sound good at face value so people will become conditioned to it and be more likely to accept it. Some parents are already looking to microchip their children in case they are kidnapped or run away. Some parents have already gotten their kids chipped.
So it's really dangerous for pets? I'm seriously upset now.... It was pretty much mandatory when I got my cats.... Wait Is this the same thing you guys are talking about? The chips in my cats don't TRACK them per say but if they are lost and found and taken to a vet, the vet will find our names and addy inside.???? Hmmm... it probably is the same thing.
I totally agree. It gives me chills. I knew they were TALKING about using the chips on kids but I didn't know some parents already got it done. How scary....
not drunk...i've had a few drinks earlier in the night...not much though just think that some of this is just wicked hilarious - b
It's an RFID chip, it's just not a very powerful one. They have much more powerful ones that can be tracked via satellite, but they are not using those in animals... yet. The ones they are using in animals are to be read with a handheld scanner.
yea its pretty cool...once its upgraded to satelite i'll be able to track my women and see the money they spend i like this new techonolgy
man, i think they should figure out a way to microchip beer....and then when we drink it, it'll be absorded in us and they'll be able to track us so we won't drive drunk or anything
I find it crazy that people would actually consider putting them in children. If they are that scared of something like that happening you would thing they would find other ways to prevent it. Lets say that someone did kidnap their child. To be honest time they found the child the kidnapper more then likely already done what they intended to do.
