I'm wanting to become a vegitrian, but i'm too in love with Chinese food lol. Like sesame chicken and such. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas how i can start eating more healthy but not having to cut meat out completly.

yeah chinese food is my weakness too. Try eating steamed rice instead of fried rice and maybe get a side order of vegestables. So do you want to be a vegetarian or just decrease meat intake? If it's the latter, eat beans istead of red meat, or eat grilled chicken and fish instead of fried. Oh, and try not to drink carbonated beverages.

I don't think there is anything wrong with eating chicken, if you like it. I cut red meat out of my diet nearly 8 years ago and still happily enjoy poultry and seafood. I'm healthy. Tofu is also a great option. Mix it up!!!! Maybe try cutting out beef first, then pork...gradually reducing the amount of meat that you're eating?

Why cut out meat? If you want to improve the lot of domestic animals, then demand free range meat.

Yeah, try cutting out red meat or eating free-range. If you do cut out meat, do it over time (it took me, like, two years before I was finally willing to give up eatign turkey and bacon after all the other meats were cut out!).

chinese food is pretty flexable, if you find a good chinese place. spring rolls are usually vegetarian (though not always, so check, if you want to do the veg. thing). you can also get general tsos bean curd, or kung pao tofu, or veggie fried rice, or veggie lo mein... if you can't give up the orange chicken, ask them to fry you up some orange tofu. they'll usually do it.

Chinese food is great vegetarian food, like lawngirl said, its all about the right place. Usually chinese food restaurants provide vegetarian menus with veggie meats, which taste just like the real thing, but are much better for you. The sauces are all alike, and I even find the vegetarian chinese food restaurants around here to be way better than regular ones. Also you can ask for them to substitute certain things, I always ask at places for Tofu and Vegetables curry.

Wow, I thought that the health forum would be more aware. There is almost NO diffrence between beef and chicken in its cholesterol content, and fish these days have increasing contents of heavy metals - fuck when the government starts advising pregnant women to stop eating tuna because of mecury content you know it has to be very bad. Really, going veg is not all that hard just try it for a week, see how you feel. You will start to lose your desire for meat. Animal products have been linked to most cancers and heart disease. Cancer reversal diets and heart disease reversal diets call for a strict NO meat or animal product diet. But, meat is obviously the worse than cheese, eggs ect. cause it contains much more cholesterol, saturated fats, pesticides and hormones. Be healthy - go veg!
