I know there are a few vegans on this board and I've been flirting with it for a long time for karmic reasons, but I don't know how you guys do it. Currently, and for a long time now, I have been a semi-vegetarian, meaning I do not eat mammals, just chicken and fish. It's a bitch to be a vegetarian if you ever eat at restaurants, because almost everything is adulterated, especially with gelatin or beef stock or some kinda pork shit, and you gotta ask and most of the time they're clueless themselves.
Im against the cruelty we impose on the worlds animals for our selfish hunger, but i do firmly beleive humans were designed to be carnivores.
you can always order pasta with red sauce. it shouldn't get to redundant if you only eat out once or twice a month. there are a lot of other options depending on where you eat, but the pasta is always a good fall back
I dont think the first thing in our genes to be altered would be our dieting, unless all animals vanished and we were forced to live on non-meats for a couple hundred years.
I'm talking about the mind, because of course we have no physical need to eat meat, as I'm by far healthier than any of my red meat eating friends.
I don't think that it would be healthy to just jump into a vegan diet. You might wanna try to make more of a transition. On the restaurant thing... it's kinda hard to completely escape animal products in this modern world. I'm sure that there are dozens of things that we eat or use that are made out of some sort of animal product or bi-product. C'est la vie.
exactly.. took me many many years and reading a ton of books before i even claimed vegan. come over, i'll cook for you. i've been cookin' for the roomies and they love it..
i think the word you are looking for is omnivore no human is or was strictly carnivorous and historically humans were more inclined to eat plants because hunting an animal was a difficult process hunters often foraged more than killed ok i'm done... *takes off the smartie pants* :leaving:
lol that's exactly what i need really is someone to be vegan with me, and someone who really knows how to cook too.
maybe i should write a cookbook.. what should i put in it? i can veganise just about any food.. AND DON'T SAY STEAK! we've already been over that.
i agree about transitioning, that's incredibly important good luck being vegan, that's a awesome thing to do i have respect for people that can do it i can't, lately i've been having a hard time staying vegetarian i'm more for smart consumerism more than anything, eat whatever you want to eat as long as you're being smart about it certain practices in today's society in terms of where we get our food is just gross ie) in canada alot of food companies purchase ingredients in china and asia because it's cheaper, and if they package the product here they can claim on the box that it was made in canada, the law is that like some percentage of the product has to be made in canada i found that to be such a disturbing thought, china is incredibly lax in their food health laws
Exactly, without meat we’d still be swinging from trees and tossing feces down upon whatever species emerged atop the food chain hotwater
You can make pretty much any food vegan coz these days there are so many replacement foods for everything. I used to live with a girl who went vegan and the vegan food she would cook was way better than she cooked before. She also baked us lots of vegan cakes and cookies and they were so delicious. And most importantly, you can still eat ice cream too!! Just do a lot of research on recipes and replacements and stuff. I dunno about restaurants in the US, but over here there's loads that are specialised on vegetarian and vegan foods.
i actually think its completely stupid, vegetarian or veganism but its not my life...so if thats what you want, good for you
I actually am a wonder of wonders. My body was NOT built to eat meat. I have no canine teeth to speak of, every single tooth in my mouth is flat, like a herbivore's. I guess if there was more of a choice for veggies down here, I would've likely done very well sticking with vegetarianism, but I'm too picky of an eater already.
Being vegan is really wonderful as long as you are alright with doing lots of your own cooking...I think it's a really good kicking off point to start learning about nutrician and all the different ways to take care of your body...not to mention get really creative with your cooking and baking... But I agree that jumping into it might be a lot on your body...maybe first just try switching to rice/hemp/almond milk first, or like useing flax/bannana/applesause instead of butter/eggs in baking recipes (it's really good!) or cocoa and sugar instread of milk chocolate...Like learning to cook without dairy&the lot without imposing any overly strict rules on yourself...but like each to their own, that's what I did and it made it a lot easier cause one day I was just like wow I almost eat no dairy anymore and it just got cut and I feel a lot healier, which is good cause I find dairy really hard to digest...also make sure to eat LOTS of leafy greens, beans, and grains...and hemp seeds are a really good source of protein... Good luck.
Well to each his own, but show me a bloody steak and I’ll show you a natural born killer, show me a lettuce, tomato, and cucumber sandwich and I’ll show you someone in denial Hotwater
The only thing I know, is humans were designed to choose, and that we do. As long as you get all your supplements, diet as you wish. Vegan IS hard. I tried. I failed. Its just not for me. For baout half a yea rnow Ive been considering eating white meat again, but I just cant yet. I dont know why, but now is not the time.
Whether you are merely ignorant of the importance to reduce suffering, or have already shunned this revelation, you do so in peril of living in a hellish world of your own invention. but it's not my life...so if that's what you want, good for you Go Giants!
