im going vegan (started yesterday), but what should i do if there is milk that is going to be thrown out if i dont drink it? i dont want milk tro be wasted, i dont want te animals suffering to get that milk to be useless, you know?? im thinkingg of being semi-vegan, and drinking only free-ranged milk, eating only free-range cheese. i dont know, should i eat food thats going to be wasted? help! (i bury the meat that is, because thats an actual body, but i dont know what to do with the products)
Yay RainbowCat! That's an interesting dilemma you got there. Well, whatever choice you make, it will be purely symbolic--it won't really make a difference physically, but it can still mean a lot. I remember when Kenya outlawed ivory trade because of the elephant slaughters. They had all this ivory left over in storage. I'm sure it was worth millions of dollars. You know what they did? They made a huge bonfire and burned it all. Pretty gutsy, huh? So you can guess what my suggestion is. P.S. I like what you did with the meat. I wouldn't have thought of that.
i would go ahead and drink it if you can bring yourself to do it after learning about milk and factory dairy farms, or maybe give some to your cat if you have one, they love milk... or maybe put it in a bowl and put it outside and a raccoon or something will drink it?and what about the people you live with, they dont drink milk??? i agree though, i think it is more disrespectful not to use all of the things you can when you kill or take something from an animal, leather, etc... check out http:/www.milksucks.com sometime, dont think there is such a thing as free range cheese, and even 'organic' milk is not supposed to be much better ive read before... its not like milk has any essential nutrients you cant get anywhere else very easily without the whopping dose of protein, cholesterol and fat....congratulations and good luck with your decision, i dont think youll find it too hard to just drop a couple things from your diet and keep a watchfull eye for a handfull of foods that use animal products in them, it really isnt as hard as people make it out be...
i ate cheese today, but onyl because it would've been thrown out if i hadnt... believe me. my family is kinda wasteful, and they buy too much food sometimes. the good thing is, i also ate veggie cheese (for the rest of my meal), my mom didnt know i was going vegan and put cheese in my food
I really don't think I have a single care for the animals whom are killed... You should worry about yourself, and find out what those products (can) do to your body. Surely you wouldn't want to eat them after that...
i forgot to add that my parents are in NO WAY vegetarian, and my dad makes fun of me for it. i heard eating chocolate every day (a very small portion) is good for your heart, so ill proably eat vegan chocolate (sparingly, still). i also ate some chocolate tonight, but that's because my mom said it was getiing old and that she was going to throw it out tonight. i would give it to poor people, like, bring it to them (because obviously dairy products dont save), but i hardly know of any bums around here. i could bury it also, but im running out of room, and it seems a little pointless, really. i know that. i havnt decided what to do yet, but im headed towards vegan, but i do know i eat too much cheese and chocolate.
Where did you hear that from? You should look into that instead of just going on with something you heard.
dark chocolate, of which there are great organic vegan versions, has antioxidants and a study (memory not serving well tonight) demonstrated that small amounts of DARK, not dairy, chocolate had heart-disease minimising effects.
