Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters Movie Blurb by Shale February 7, 2014 I wanted to relax today, not see any movies that required a lot of emotional investment or thot, so this was my pick, a PG-13 movie is based on a best selling novel by Richelle Mead and the obvious demografic it appeals to is teen girls. It did not appeal to movie critics who mostly trashed it but over three-fourths of audiences (probably mostly teen girls) liked it. It has a whole new parameter of vampire traits which does not include sparkling skin when exposed to sunlight. There are degrees of vampire and all our beautiful young ones at the academy are Moroi, or peaceful, mortal vampires who do not suck ppl dry but have cooperating vampire groupies donate a little blood for their sustenance. There are also seriously, old-school, immortal, bad vampires called Strigoi whom the Guardians are trained to fight and kill with silver stakes. These can also infect Moroi and turn them into Strigoi. So begins the story with two close teen girls, Rosemary Hathaway (Zoey Deutch) and her BFF Vasilisa Dragomir (Lucy Fry) who have run away from St. Vladimir's Academy. Rose is a Dhampir; half vampire half human and training to be a guardian for Lissa, who is actually Moroi Vampire royalty. Rose wakes up in a nightmare where she and Lissa are in a car crash that kills all of Lissa's family. Altho they were both in the crash, it is not Rose's nightmare but Lissa's because Rose is psychically connected to her. They are very close, more than sisters and while living out in the world for a couple of years, Lissa has been taking an occasional blood meal offered by her protector Rose. This is a very sensual blood bond that is frowned upon by other vampires at school so it is kept secret. (I think this taps in to teen girl fantasy/concern) Vasilisa & Rose BFF Spat Well, the girls get caught by Dimitri Belikov (Danila Kozlovsky) and a crew of guardians and taken back to The Academy, where they get into all the usual high school angst in addition to some real intrigues going on in the vampire upper echelons. This you will just have to see the movie if you want to follow it but in the meantime, Princess Lissa meets this mysterious misfit of a guy Christian Ozera (Dominic Sherwood) whom her guardian BFF does not trust. Rose Watches Christian While Rose gets a huge crush on her Guardian Trainer Dimitri. Rose & Dimitri Training I would recommend this movie for teen girls and any adult who doesn't want to invest too much thinking or emotional involvement in a movie. Oh, it is set up for a sequel, depending on how it does at the box office.
Yep, they even made reference to Twilight - and I think they want to fill the void left by that franchise. It has the lame funny lines (that I even liked in Twilight). IDK if they will get their desired sequel, but this is even more targeted to the tween girl fantasy than Twilight. All the main players seem chosen for their knock out good looks. Twilight only had Taylor Lautner, Kellen Lutz and Ashley Greene for really above average good looks. I never watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but from the glimpses, it too appears to have a really cute cast of young ppl, so likely the same target audience. Here are the main players of VA. Danila Kozlovsky Zoey Deutch Dominic Sherwood & Lucy Fry And even tho she had no romantic role in the movie, Olga Kurylenko was the Academy Headmistress.
