Uzbekistan Airlines is now going to weigh passengers before flight. Their have been problems with too much weight on planes during heavy weather. This comes as safety measure. http://mashable.com/2015/08/12/passenger-weight-limit/ Maybe this will stop people from eating fast food before they fly. Their are activists against it of course. I like this idea, a lot. I live in America and this would be a good push. People now days really over pack, and many over eat. Time to get more simple. I'm not trying to be a asshole but I love the idea cause in the last two times in 2 years ive flown, at international airports, it is crazy how many people who are clearly, very very obese, an epidemic in many parts are trying to squeeze themselves in with just as many clothes. Ever since the cost of each bag on a plane for storage, people are cramming as much shit as they can into the flight deck where we all sit. Don't want to pay for the bag In storage. If you carry a big bag, weigh 150lbs over your natural healthy body weight, I would imagine you will get rejected. You should. Of course this can bring up problems, cause being born small weigh less and will get an advantage, while those like the dude I saw today who was almost 7foot 300lbs might get a disadvantage (cause that man was just strait up big, not overweight). I like the idea overall.
in the earliest days of air travel, all commercial aviation did that. there were simply sever and absolute weight limits on what a plane could carry and still get into the air. i suspect re instituting the practice, has something to do with operating economies.
I remember hearing discussions on larger people having to pay more for using up more than one seat on a airplane. I've never seen anything like that in my life though, a huge massive person who needed two seats... =\ maybe when I'm in the states.... Anyway, I don't think you should be able to discriminate in any way like that. If you're heavy you're heavy, until the health system bans the stuff that makes people heavy, heavy people shouldn't be paying more to use public transport.
It's interesting but I think it's discriminating against the fat people who legitimately can't help it. I'm not saying there aren't a lot of fat, overeating, lazy people but I also know a couple of people with legitimate thyroid issues. One girl who used to be quite skinny is now really big from health problems and the medication thy give her. She still eats exactly the same way though. Is it fair for those people to have to pay so much more because of legitimate health problems?
I fully support discriminating against fatties, its gross Not that Ill be flying Uzbekistani air at any time
If I carry 23kilo, not 22 I have to pay a surcharge. Now why should some gluttonous mountain of lard carry 80kilo of blubber on his arse, for free? Additionally, if the plane got into mechanical difficulties, its a lot harder to keep a bunch of gut buckets in the air, than people of reasonable weight. To argue otherwise is riduculous. What next? Fat people demand "all you can eat" in restaurants at the same price as normal portions? They already get free healthcare for their self induced illnesses. And half of the world starves because of them. Fuck em. (Not literally, obviously). Go to the gym, instead of exposing your sealion-esque body on the beach.
This has also being implemented in Samoa, I believe, a country with a very high proportion of obese citizens.
if someone needs 2 seats on a plane I see no problem with charging for 2 seats, especially for a flight that is completely booked.
So you're saying it's bad for the airplane to have carry-on luggage? That's a fascinating concept. Hard to believe they aren't doing more about that. If there's a real issue with that I think they should do away with baggage fees entirely, or at least lower them so that people will find it easier to pay for their luggage.
No I said its bad since the cost per bag for storage was put in, people are taking all their luggage on board in deck where we sit.
