The US and Israel are gearing up to attack Iran. In an ongoing series of tit-for-tat threats, the US, Europe and Iran are taking the usual steps that are a prelude for war. And now the US is sending 9,000 troops to Israel for a war game dubbed Austere Challenge 12, the biggest war game ever for the two nations. A US aircraft carrier will also be involved. It would seem the purpose is not just to practice the defense of Israel, but also coordinating attacks against Iran. Usually after a war game the US withdraws its troops, however it's already been stated that these troops will remain deployed in Israel for the foreseeable future. In the latest series of threats, the US and Europe have sanctioned Iran for its nuclear program, fearing they are developing nuclear weapons. They are penalizing any company or country that does business with Iran. Europe has decided to stop importing oil from Iran. So Iran has threatened to attack foreign vessels from beyond the region, and to shut the strait of Hormuz should Iran be attacked. The US withdrew its aircraft carrier the USS Stennis from the Persian Gulf as a result of the Iranian threats. It's doubtful the US will let that threat stand for long or lose credibility. These steps often precede a military confrontation. The US still has Iran surrounded on every side. Get ready! http://www.debka.com/article/21629/
Meanwhile, one of the ships in the Stennis battlegroup that was threatened with attack by Iran, just rescued a ship full of Iranian sailors from Somali pirates! http://www.cnn.com/2012/01/06/world/meast/iran-us-navy-rescue/index.html
Okay....... 9000 troops intercept incoming missiles how..... with fly swatters? WTF are the troops doing there if this is about missiles. Bullcookies!
^America and all of the UN should be required to disarm all nuclear weapons. the slow disarming going on right now isn't doing anything - because we could get right back into a nuclear arms race at the drop of a hat
Looks like business is good for War Inc. So much hatred and anger out there. They better not come around expecting me to partake in these shenanigans.
It seems like a very difficult situation to me with no easy answer. Hopefully this military posturing on the part of the US will have the desired effect. This sort of posturing often does work. But only because the USA has a history of backing it up when necessary. Who among you hip people would want some islamic screwball cleric telling you exactly how you should behave. No booze, drugs, sex, dancing, music and such.
Where is the threat of that? Iran doesn't have a fraction of the military power necessary, on the other hand its missiles are so clearly for self-defence while the US has a huge arsenal way beyond what is necessary to defend its territory.
They would win an attack on Iran within the first minutes/hours and then bomb the country for months back to stone age, killing some hundred thousand Iranians...business as usual.
One of the tasks will no doubt be controlling Israel's Patriot missile defenses. Another will be controlling the latest drone technology which they're having to reprogram thanks to the Iranians capturing one of the drones. Realize too that the Israelis are the developers of the drone technology, so perhaps they are revising it with the US. According to the article... The US is there to not only defend Israel from Iranian attack, but possibly also from Syria, Lebanon and even Egypt (where many anti-Israeli groups are based). This might also be a warning to the Egyptian military which has become more hostile to the US lately. But lastly they are there to prepare for war against these countries should it be necessary. How many US troops are in Israel? Anybody's guess at present. There is a huge US base in the desert there that nobody talks about...
UPDATE: Russian warships dock in Syria. French and British warships to follow. US launches a huge drone over Iran. It looks like the US and its allies are pulling out all the stops to position their ships with the latest technology off Syria and Iran. Supposedly the British ship can counter any missiles or electronic warfare that the Russians, Syrians or Iranians might use. http://www.debka.com/article/21633/
I don't think many Americans/westerners understand much of any of the way of life in the middle-east what seems to be an overbearing and 'wrong' way of life, is actually received as very normal and just, to what i have understood. i have a friend who grew up in Iran, one who has lived in Iraq only until recently and another from Jordan. all of them tell me how misunderstood the middle east is by whitey it is just a brutally honest and just place to live - it can be paradise if you live between the lines or hell if you are a rule breaker.
Iran sentences American ex-Marine to death for spying http://rt.com/news/iran-death-sentence-american-391/ Is this going to have any effect on war breaking out?
Premises have their natural conclusion. As long as evil needs to be stamped out, there will be reason for conflict. It depends on which we prefer, peace or guilt.
