It takes 1 gallon of gasoline to make 1 gallon of biodiesel from corn. Sugarcane is much more efficient to convert but that won't get the US Agro Conglomerates a big fat tax break now will it.
Ethanol is only marginally a biofuel. Biodiesel or WVO are more environmentally secure, though WVO wins out because biodiesel creates byproducts. The only byproduct of WVO is that your car smells like french fries. And since we're going to get out of Iraq sooner than later, we need to stop worrying about what the third world has going on and start taking care of the homeless and impoverished HERE.
