Why have none of these studies broached the subject of - call it what you want in the third world - superstition, false hope, ignorance, or (as with cutted) fanaticism; the thought in the minds of many that once circumcised, no condom necessary. Even during the early years, it was hard getting American men into rubbers. The fact that 459k men in the US who were circumcised also died of AIDS. Something is rotten in the state of denial with these studies. Also be advised that I hope to be a good enough parent to raise boys who will know about and use all necessary precautions whether gay or straight. Those boys will be as natural as the day they were born.

fastswitch, good point, why does the u.s have the highest non-religious cut rate and the highest aids rate of any developed country, shouldn't circumcision have protected us? the same can be noticed in many African countries circumcision has been claimed to cure beack aches's, mental problems, and a whole lot of other crazy things, it's sold on whatever scare is needed to do it, in the 50's it was cancer, now that it started to wear off an people understand the risk of death or serious complication of circumcision is as much risk of penile cancer, now suddenly circumcision prevents aids, so the anti-circ people who don't make money off of cutting have to fight to educate the public about all the facts and studies, and once that happens circumcision will cure something else, whatever the next big thing is why would doctors do this? In their minds they mean well, they were likely cut and as an automatic self defense mechanism we will tend to believe anything that puts us in a more favorable light
I don't rant - I just state facts, like it or not. The New Zealand study cited is contrary to the one released in New Zealand slightly earlier which studied a large sample of men over a lengthy period of time and found that there was a greater than 50% likely chance of getting an STD if uncut.
and contrary to a multitude of other studies that show circumcision makes no difference and you did post the same story from three sources, just because abc and nbc report on the same thing does not mean it's two different stories
I guess this is like when they took my tonsils out, as they did with everyone, because they were only going to make me sick in the future. My sister escaped the tonsil knife and she had no ill effects for over 60 years. No need in ranting, we have all seen medical science state something and then a decade later say the complete opposite. They discredit themselves. We don't have to.
