This is one of those "Duh!" experiments that could have been done years ago if anyone had thought to do it. Normally quanta zip around everywhere at rather high speeds from our point of view, but it was discovered that if you cool them close to absolute zero and keep peeking at them at just the right moment, they never change, as if time stops for them. By setting up their quantum network so that they measure when nothing happens, they gain information, because it means the other person is still peeking at their quanta. What they do not know becomes more important than what they know and a faster and more efficient way to communicate.

The fact it also proves that information can be treated as separate and distinct from mass and energy, reflects the fact they are squeezing dimensions, and time is the ultimate dimension for squeezing, because its debatable whether it even exists or not. Manipulating space is easy enough, while now we are learning new ways to manipulate space-time and information that defy causal explanation and suggest everything can be described as a self-organizing system.

Quanta appear so strange due to their extreme juxtaposition, and not just because they are tiny. Black holes and white dwarf stars are widely considered macroscopic quantum objects, and even the sun displays quantum behavior, with the corona being hotter than the core. From our point of view, a black hole and the sun are both extremes, just like quanta being so small. The same conservation of energy and information is assumed to apply to everything, but information being capable of being conveyed without energy makes it more fundamental.

Quanta is the plural of Quantum

Quantum is the minimum amount of any physical thing. And macroscopic means visible to the naked eye

So "Black holes and white dwarf stars are widely considered macroscopic quantum objects"

Really just means objects that are widely considered to be the smallest amount that can be seen with the naked eye
