Is there hippie behavior that you would honestly say is totally unacceptable to your way of thinking? I'd say for me it's when someone tries to push drugs on someone who is clearly not interested.

"...someone tries to push drugs on someone who is clearly not interested."

maybe i'm wrong, but i don't think that this is a hippie behavior.
The hippie behavior would be to respect the person's choice.

As i said maybe i'm wrong, cause i haven't met a lot of hippies :)

    well I'd say ....
cruising, with no place to go ,just burning gas!
changing your oil and pouring it down the storm drain!
spending more time chasing money, than spending with the family!
thinking more stuff, more stuff, more stuff!
thinking money is anything more than a necessary evil!
thinking your better off in the rat race than in the natural world!
I certainly think these would be unacceptable if you said your a hippie!

And as for the drug thing, I don't know your specific situation, of course, but IMO,if their talking about psycedelics,LSD,mushrooms, peote, they might be trying to do you a favor! The word psychedelics translates to soul manifeting. Psyhce, meaning self or soul, and delous meaning to manifest ones self or make apperent.I think this would be acceptable behavior for a hippie. Not to push it but to advocate the use of them and the wonders they behold,HELL YES! I personally feel everone should have a full blown dose of one or the other ,all by him little self, at least once. The doors will open, you will know who you are! I'm not pushin, I'm not pushin!

But if your talking about some coke head,or meth head, pot head,or alcoholic just trying to drag you down with them to make them less lonley in loser land, of course not!

SO TURN ON AND TUNE IN ALREADY GOD DAMNIT!!!...I'm not pushin I'm not pushin...LOL

Now, maybe theres a ballance to this so called rat race... I agree about those who only care about more stuff, and money, or whatever... But there are some of us, who work the rat race to benefit the entire family... Money for food and supplies, have got to come from SOMEWHERE, right?

I believe the thead was addressing what we each think as individuals is unacceptable. And the thing is I know what the pioneering hippie movement was all about. Getting out of the rat race, and not needing any money at all, they hated money and all it stood for. They learned to live off the land as much as possible and traded money as little as possible. They strived to became one with nature and there enviorment.

If these arn't your goals,or at least your dreams, call yourself what you want, your not a hippie! IMO

You certainly have another opinion on whats unacceptable, why don't you add your two cents about that, and stop questioning people twice your age?

ageism is not acceptible hippy behavior
    the youth are our future
if she spoke out of ignorance or stupidity thats 1 thing, but attacking her beliefs as wrog simply based on her age isnt acceptable

pushing someone into drugs is totally different than advocate the usage of certain drugs.
i think this discussion could easily turn out into a fight about what being a hippie really means, because it´s easier to say what hippies are than to say what hippies are not.
to me it´s more important to be open minded towards other people and aware of your environment than to join the hippiemovement, which is more of a cultural thing to me. people who joined the movement doesn´t have to be more open minded than me or something, which would make me more of a hippie. but because they are inside the movement and i´m not they are in another way more hippie than me.
    you see?

I would like to add something to that. if you guys didn't do the same when you were young, the hippie movement would have never excisted. stop using that bullshit in your arguments, if you would have left it out of you post it would make sense.

I just love the way everyone gets ther noses out of joint when someone voices there FUCKING OPINION,I don't remember attacking anyone at all. Seems I was the one being questioned for my opinion and I answered as directly and honestly as possible.

Then I tried to remind the childen of the point of the thread ,but they just keep on rambling shit totally off thread topic.Attacking people for their opinion! Do anyone of you know what an opinion is! Or a fucking thread topic for that matter!

Ageism and cliquishness runs rampant here and in R/L. Neither are acceptable behaviors IMO.

i think telling someone to not voice an opinion because of it's age is something different than voicing your opinion.

I think posting on an internet message board is very unhippie-like. a hippy with a myspace is completely unacceptable.
