    Hi all,
first of all i just want to say i hope you all had a fantastic christmas and everyone got something dread related in their stockings?! i got a bottle of dr bronners and some fab glass beads yay!! but now to the chore at hand yet again i seem to be in a dread dilemma! and i would appreciate everyones sage advice AGAIN! i have had my dreads for about 4 months now and since i stopped using wax they have been looking great only thing now is the elastics i put in when my dreads were started have all perished and have started falling out, this isnt a prob at the tips as most of the dreads have nice ends on em but my roots all seem to be un dreaded apart from a few at the back where i guess they rub up more? i do wear a hairband everyday but try to let them go free as much as poss but i think if anything has hindered the roots i think it may have been the weeks of waxing :& i have some of that DHQ locking accelerator left and i have tried using this and following their tips of rubbing the dread anti clockwise against my head but A it takes so long and B after 10 mins of rubbing it makes you scalp sore and takes an absolute age :$ i realise that its normal to have some un dreaded hair at the roots as this is where it grows from but i dont want too much to be undreaded as it could be harder to fix in the future? any hints, tips or general help would be much appreciated. have a happy new year! .... sharon x

Those dreads look great ! I just started mine. The only thing I have heard is that it takes time, up to 1-2 years for dreads to really tighten, but I really don't know much. I am just letting mine do their own thing and I want to see what they come out looking like, probably all differnt sizes and such. I think it will be neat. Don't get to bummed just embrace the natural time it takes for dreads to tighten up is really all the advice I can give.

I am going to buy some Dr. Bronners liquid soap in about 40 minutes at a nice health food store only 1 minute away, it is family owned and a great place. Maybe I can become vegan now because they sell all kinds of all natural, vegan friendly food. Anyway, Peace and enjoy your glass beads.

Try rubbing them between two fingers on your head.

yeah i tried rubbing them with two fingers, and everything just seemed to waste time.

What sort of worked was wearing a wool hat most of the day, though as you can imagine that gets old really quick

I wouldn't bother with all that rubbing, some people say it's actually bad for your roots cuz it stresses them out, just give them time and wearing a wool hat/tam like dayusex or dunking your head in the ocean (or water mixed with sea salt) can help alot too

be very patient. The roots take a while to knot up but what happens with me is that my hair grows out about 1 to 2 inches unknotted then each lock naturally twists around then after it twists over the roots lock up after a couple weeks. this takes a lot longer when they are young. i personally dont use lock accelerator or any gunk, i dont rub them, i dont really twist them. i just wash them maybe once a week or so and let nature do the rest. had them for a year and 8 months now.
