Ok, this probably sounds stupid, but does anyone live in a tree, or deep in the woods? I want to when I get older...lol I dream about it. I believe it would be lovely. Which is strange...becuase I'm terrified of hights. Oddness. But I would love to live in a little house out in the country/woods somewhere, with some animals and a garden and whatnot. I used to live in the country, and I sort of liked it, I was a little kid and didn't really have any friends so that's why that sucked. So I was wondering if anyone had that kind of lifestyle and could share the nice/bad things about it, typical work you would have to do, struggles w/ living in forest or a tree.
i dont know if you have a similar thing in the usa, but over here there are regular protests against roads being built through the coutryside. alot of the protesters live in trees as a way of protecting them. i have seen tree houses that have burners/stoves in them and everything, so they're lovely and warm even if it snows. if you are thinking about it seriously it might be worth going along to one of these sights. not only will you get the chance to stay in a tree house and see what it's like for yourself, but you will also be able to talk to other people who have lived in trees for a very long time. they will be able to give you a very realistic view of what life will be like if this is the route you chose to take. peace and love stardust xxx
i hve thought for a while now that it would be cool to have villages in trees,(like redwoods). kinda like the ewok thing in Star Wars
yeah, i thought about that aswell. i always wanted a couple of tree houses all linked together with rope bridges and long vines where you can just swing between the trees, like they do in robin hood!
I stayed in one with a burner, they are brilliant. But you do have to be very carefull, i set fire to my sleeping bag once and nearly the whole tree house went up. Luckily we put it out before it got too big.
Yeah...I was wondering about the burner thing, for the exact reason you mentioned. I may not actually live in a tree, but it would be interesting. The Ewok thing is kinda the same thing I'm talking about...that would be awesome. I make little plans on paper of how to build them, and they're actually halfway decent...but I won't chop down trees nor do I have the money to buy lumber, so they're never built.
theres a simple soloution to that one. go out and find the wood. fallen trees lay everywhere in woods. i was walking in some woodland recently and found huge piles of wood that had been chopped by the people doing the woodland management and just left in big piles for the taking. that way you pay nothing and dont have to destroy a tree specifically for your purpose! peace and love stardust xxx p.s. man in the shed - you talking about the tree house at faslane??
Julia Butterfly Hill lived in a Redwood for over 2 years. It was very dangerous at times, but the views looked to be unbelieveable. She was living almost 200 feet up in a Redwood tree protesting the Pacific Lumber Company and deforestation. yeah, her story is amazing. but hey, guy smiley, you have the exact name my little sister named her gerbil like 6 years ago. hehe
wow, this sounds amazing. I actually didn't know that there were people who lived in tree houses with burning stoves and stuff. That sounds like paradise! When I was younger, my favourite thing to do was find trees to climb and stuff. Then there was one day when we moved to this acredge (sp?) and I found this tree in the woods behind the house that was AWSOME....it was like 3 trees grown together, and they all went out in different dirctions and it was just too cool to describe. I used to sit in that tree for hours on end. I bulit swings and stuff from it, too. There was one part of the tree that grew out at a horizontal angle and I was able to place a "roof" of branches and leaves on it and spend a few nights down there in the summers. It was wonderful! Man, did I cry when we had to move away from that house when my parents got divorced and we had to move to the city. ......it was also an awsome way to get away from my mom or dad when they were mad at me....neither could climb a tree and I would go right to the top and stay there, lol.
man i seem to be coming across so many people who just wanna say to hell with society and live a truely free life.... i would suggest googling tom brown and his teachings and looking into his survival schools.......and yeah julia hill is awesome....
ok oh if only i was as intelligent as i was at the age of 16.... i dont think you younguns realize just how difficult it truly is out in the real big bad world... or droppin out of the big bad world Do you realize what kind of hours that it takes to make it on your own??? we work in babble-on and homestead here at the farm.... That tends to make for 14-16 hours a day every day of our life... Now if we were to back more out of society then it would require more time here on the land to get things done... so still would be 14-16 hour days everyday .... unless yer a street bum and panhandle thru life,,, but is that dropping out of society??? It truly is a life you have to love and have the gumption to live,,, to not have to go into town nb uy groceries,,, since yer backin out of society,,, then you have to grow yer own food,,, ummmmmm it dont grow on its own , doesnt can on its own doesnt weed itself,,,, ya have to have free heat since you aint working,,,, so therefore ya need yaself a way to get oh lets say firewood,,,, of course ya gotta have a chainsaw gas n oil as well which ummmmmmmmmmm ya generally cant make on ya own,,,, but anywho,,, means yer gonna be out fallin trees n cuttin them up then splittin it all,,, have ya ever spent four or five good hours splittin wood or runnin a saw ? and then multiply that by how much ya gonna need,,,, ... ya hafta find a way to make some sorta money ,, since ya have them things called taxes or ya aint gunna have yer land long... water,,, unless ya have gravity water or wells... that means ya gunna haul it,,,, just fer shitz n gigglez haul 15 or 20 five gallon pails around yer lawn a few times a day.... .. iffin yer a meat eatter,,, then ya best raise yer own meat,,,, ohhhhhhhhhhhh haulin shit with a pitchfork n wheelbarrel is a joy... specially in mid summer heat n ya already hauled water n moved wood round so ya could cook dinner n such...... then there are always lil things that one just cant do for self and cant trade for and barter for.. like gas n oil n unless yer gonna grind your own grains n flours n grow sugar cane n such,,,, ya hafta buy,,,........ welll to make what could be a real long story shorter,,, ya want a reality check,,, go to a community or ecovillage or homestead or farm n see what it is like....live it for a while,,, n then decide if it truly is something you want n are going to do!!! now i gottsta go n haul a few pails of water around,,, then go play in the garden a bit , then make some dinner,,, then take a shower n go to bad n did i fail to mention,,, my alarm went off a 4:20 am this mornin n i came home n replied here... luv n lite dilli
my friend and i are planning on building a treehouse to smoke in and just chill a lot during the summer =D. I doubt well get it together though..
Um perhaps iffin ya smoke a bit less,, dream a bit more an then follow thru ya would get it together.. Nothin ya truly love for eternity comes easy,, tis just the way this world works.. An dilli my queen is right,, this is our 9 month routine(spring thru fall),, alarm gos off at 4:20 every mornin(except weekends then we wake up when the roosters start crowin,,Ususally about 5:30) monday thru friday we are out the door by 5:30,no later usually around 5AM,,no matter when we get home,, this is about the time we decide its time to eat an get ready for another day,,but theres always variables,, critters gettin out ,a project thats just gotta get done etc.. so a few times a year its dark 30 or later when we get done.. Weekends depends,, but we always this time of year stay movin here about 12 hours on saturday an at least 8 on sunday.. If we completley dropped out that would not be a option.. Quite frankly if it wasnt for the people filtering thru from time to time it wouldnt be a option now.. Hell wed be workin 16 hour days year round... I an dilli love what we do,, but we are realists,,sure folks like dick that did it in alaska are the exception,,an they will be other dicks.. but reality is what it is.. a unless ya live on 4 hours sleep a day,as he did an are a workaholic whom has a extreme tolerance for the elements.. It aint happenin.. An thats just the way it is.. Beyond that,, if any you young bucks wanna see what it takes to "live deep in the woods" in this day in age,,theys plenty of chores to be done here,,ya may even learn somethin.. SLACK ASS POT SMOKIN TILL THERE LAZY ASSES TYPES NEED NOT APPLY...
