Although I don't normaly use the word "hippie", because hippies come in many shapes and forms, but i recon you all know what I mean when i use it now =P Anyhow, Im sick and tired of all "normal" people (stuying, working, alcohol drinking partyin pricks, no offence to anyone). But i long for friends who one can just sit down, smoke a joint, play some good music on the guitar and sing kumbaya. And just chill.. Like hippies.. just open minded people like? Who don't laugh at you when you discuss the possiblity of paralell universe? anarchy theories? free love? fruitarianism? Wherever i go these days people always have to argue and complain about me beein vegetarian, pro-weed, anti-alcohol, "hippish" (which for some reason many people hate?). Where are all the hippie people?? I just got back to the UK (After living half my life in sweden), and I've got no friends here, and how the hell does one meet cool open minded hippie people?? peace! sonfield
well, the music scene is a good place to start. Find out what's where in your local area. Also, us lot on here meet up occasionaly. Especially at festivals :jester:
um, well for one thing i'm not about to hate you because you're 'vegetarian, pro-weed, anti-alcohol, "hippish"', but could you please be a bit more open-minded instead of labelling everyone who likes to drink and party as pricks? just because someone works or studies does not make them a bad person... they need something to survive on, right? if you can manage without an income then that's awesome, but a lot of people can't. anyway, i was gonna say that i agree with the bit about wanting to meet people who can just sit around and share a joint.
welcome to the forum Sonfield. I'm sure you'll find plenty of people that are similarly minded here in the UK Forum for sure. Maybe some of us will live near you or maybe not, but at least you'll know you aren't alone. Sure, some of us drink (and aren't pricks) and some eat meat. But you won't find anyone that is going to take the piss out of you for your beliefs.
Sorry, didn't mean to lable anybody, just that I've spent alot of time in sweden latley, and they can't really handle alcohol there, they always drink too much, and I have kinda created a resentment against alcohol. I have alot of people in my family who are alcoholics too. But sure, I recon there are alot of people who can HANDLE alcohol. I don't want to offend them. Pricks that drink become worse pricks. But I didn't mean everybody that drinks are pricks. Sorry. =) What festvials are these you speak about? When and where are they? Where can one hear about them?
check the UK Parties & Protests forum. There's always something going on it seems. Bunch of people did Glastonbury. Couple went to Eastern Haze. Seems a few are going (? not sure if it's already happened yet) to Beautiful Days. If you hang around long enough you'll catch the buzz. :spliff:
I like studying, working and having a drink or two... but i also like sitting around listening to music theres more people than may initially meet the eye.. dont judge them too soon because they initally dont seem like your type of person..
In my experience, I've discovered that everyone is an annoying twat in their own unique and special way...
I've had this same thought a few times. No matter what you do in life, no matter how much you try, you're going to piss off at least one person by doing (or not doing) something. Like I'll probably be pissing sonfield off by going off on a tangent like this.
if there are any hippies left, they're probably living on a commune in Wales. My impression is that most people who post here either have jobs, are trying to get jobs or are studying. The trick is to tell yourself you can work for The Man and still be a hippie "inside".
If you're only pissing off one person I think you're doing extremely well. More likely is that by just existing you're pissing off vast numbers of people. Hatred and loathing is I feel our natural state in many ways
Well, you started pissing me off first with your pedantic "lol just one lol" talk. sorry just kidding i still love you really
so what your saying is that you can only be a hippie if you dont work....or your saying that having a job makes you less of a hippy....right!
I undersatnd your problem! Even though I'm not vegetarian (yet..) or anti-alcohol (though i don't drink a lot), i am very secretly pro-weed and I would love to play guitar and sing kumbaya! I dress differently though and i've been told i have a vibe which makes people see me as different. None of my friends are hippies, you might say we're the defects actually, but i can't wait for uni when I can meet people like me!
