It's really weird when you're at a party and there's (what seems like) really young people that you used to know a long time ago when you were like five or six... and you happened to tutor them... and they're all drunk from doing kegstands, etc..
haha but this thread is funny cause the athletic dude's name is Brad, i mean that sounds a lot like a muscly dude name. BRAD! hahahhaa...
Haha, I thought the same thing when I first read it. On the other hand, I bike a good 23 miles at least once a week now and I'd do more if I could, but everyone dies so much while riding bikes on Highway 17. Yorktown battlefields... and the colonial parkway... all the way to Williamsburg, VA. It's probably the most beautiful road/parkway I've ever seen (national park, actually), aside from going up to Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonial_Parkway It's nice to ride through there every now and then. Only two park rangers work the entire thing at any given time, so nobody I know has ever been pulled over and most people set their cruise control for 45 and roll fat blunts around there, even though it's on federal property.
Muscle soreness is caused by the fact that as your muscles expand and contract, they release (amongst other things) Ammonia. The best way to counter this is to be very well hydrated. Water is fine, but too much water can actually dehydrate you because your cells need sodium to exchange fluid with each other. If you don't have enough sodium, it can lead to hyponatremia (water toxicity) which is strangely enough, the reult of your cells not getting enough water. My advice is to take a sports drink with you, because it will have the things you need in it, and help prevent muscle fatigue. In the mean time, you might want to take a small amount of asprin or Ibuprofen every day before you go cycling, for the first week or so. This will help prevent muscle swelling. Tylenols not so effective to reduce swelling. It shouldn't take you more then a few days to get used to it. Just make sure to keep hydrated. Especially in that heat. that has much more to do with your muscle fatique then being out of shape. Take care. Hope you're new gigs going well.
thanks lodui im definitly gonna take ur advice on the motrin thing.. but i dont like sports drinks.. water will do me fine.. i drink enough water, but not too much.. so im not too worried about water toxicity.
Hey no problem. You probably don't have to worry about water intoxication unless you're biking marathons. Just make sure to drink up, and you'll be fine. I really like biking, but it's like 100 degrees here too, so I stick to swimming, and running on an inside track for exercise. And Lance Armstrongs an incredible guy. He got cancer in his balls, and they said, Lance you're probably going to die. So he decided to go out and win the Tour De France 7 times in a row. That's one of the manliest things I've ever heard. That is just straight up mocking death right there. I really appreciate that.
sadie and i rode like 15 miles the other day we visited my great grandparents and my uncle and little cousins.. then we went to my friends house and smoked a j i wasn't even really tired on the way back we made up a song but we don't remember it =( =(
ahaha sunshine! I didnt know you were 16 either I thought you were atleast 18 if not 19-20.... and the whole bike thing .. you'll get used to it and it'll be alot of fun! ahah I used to have this little yellow bike with the banana seat and the streamers hahah and once a week we would all ride our bikes into town and its a 5 mile ride... ahaha but I can kinda sorta see you as riding like a funky bike.. haha....
Heather two miles is absolutely nothing, i cycle five for one of my jobs.....and even thats nothing I don't mind the heat either, in the summer i'll happily go on long rides when its in the late 30's (celcius)
