Joe Riggs, first round, tap out
Assuerio Silva, first round, tap out
I know Mike Swick. He's one of the better boxers I've seen in a while, and he's never studied Queensbury boxing. He comes off a little cocky in interviews but he's a really cool guy.
I hope Gracie goes down. I woulda ordered it but $30 is a little much for a show on TV.
John Alessio, unanimous decision
Alessio Sakara, tap out, first round
Royce completely Pummeled until fight called by John McCarthy
First Round, 4 minutes 39 seconds.
Fuck yes! Matt Hughes kicks ass. Matt Hughes is a great grappler and knows all of Royce's tricks, and the Gracies are all pretty weak in stand up.
Right on Matt!
Matt actually took him down, got a real good arm bar, but Royce wouldnt give, but Matt never wasnt in control. Royce turned over and =Matt had the back, both feet hooked and just started laying into his head and face. Royce didnt tap, it was called.
Not tapping is the norm with face pounding. Ref calls it whenever an opponenet can't mount a defense/keep their hand up.
I will give Royce credit though, it's near impossible to get out of an arm bar/not tap when it's set right. Was it a bent arm bar or a straight arm? I hope the vid will be on bit torrent in a day. Probably will.
The gracies are good, and Royce is a legend. But he hasn't been as persistent of a fighter since the UFC changed the rules to be less in favor of grappling styles. Royce's fighting record in the UFC was in the early days aginst kickboxers who had no concept of BJJ.
I'm glad Royce lost. He had almost no stand up, and the Gracice's are an overrated dynasty of martial arts.
Real martial arts don't favor dispiline. They favor persistance technique and heart, all of which Matt had over Hoyce Gracie.
I bet this is Royce's last fight in UFC. Not only is he about 40, but his style was lacking in stand up, which accounts for his absence for the past couple years.
Hughes is a new breed of fighter. He's mostly touted as a grappler, but he has devestating striking, which accounts for a grappler focusing on ground when he can. It's a new breed of martial arts where style is second to skill. Royce is a dinosaur, Matt's a real legend.
Matt Hughes kicks ass!
i'd watch that if they were naked and greased up
Have to go to ancient Greece for that.
... Or California, but then they're only pretending to fight.
Gayer then pro-wrestling.
... If it were possible.
I might not...second time
