Just what type of art do you like? For me, I don't like most of the modern art that I see that is nothing more than paint thrown on some canvas or a piece of bread stabled to a canvas or a crumpled paper on top of a table, etc. Not to say I don't like abstract art. I very much like many abstract art, but I like to see more actual time/idea/and effort put into art like sculptors of marble/metal/etc. that obviously took an artist or 2 many days if not weeks if not months to make. Or artistic photographs in which a photographer spent hours sitting still to catch a perfect 1 or 2 shot of a scene that only lasts but a short time. Rather than a photographer who just snapped a hundred pictures and finds 1 random one that he thinks might be good. That's what I usually like to see in art that I see and what not. What's your general/specific preference?
Like with everything, i don't have a favourite. I love the use of colour but on the other hand, monochrome interests me. I don't like portraits though.
I like and appreciate all types of artistic expressions and styles, but my preferences are: modern, abstract, contemporary and conceptual art. Despite what a lot of people think, there is a lot of thought, time and ideas put into works that seem 'easy'. In fact, it's more of a challenge to express ideas through a non traditional sense and think beyond what is simply put in front of them.
Hey, If you ever come to Figueras(Spain) visit my favorite musem of art.. Dali..the master of surrealism.. www.salvador-dali.org I agree with Sassafras that any art form should deserve appreciation..
I would love to see the Dali museum. I saw a quick clip of it on the TV some time ago and was very impressed. If you stand in a certain area within the museum you can see a piece of art that all comes together from the surrounding furniture and decor just standing in one spot. cool stuff.
